      ... Ah well, I eventually got the hang of it again and puttered around after Joel for awhile. I went up earlier than he did though to grab some lunch - they served up pulled pork, chicken and hot dogs, some veggies and Maui style chips - good stuff. On the way back we lucked out and briefly saw a dolphin and then we headed closer to the marina to see if we could see some sea turtles. We did see one, in the distance, and then it was time to dock. ...

      ... hiking shoes down the mountain completely drenched. When we arrived at the bottom we had been planning to continue on to Haleakala Crater but realized that the national park has closed all of it leaving us with nothing more to do. A state of confusion set in and after asking the ranger at the information center what we are supposed to do now, she politely said that we should go back and stay inside like the rest of the people. We didn't exactly plan a vacation to stay ...

      ... instead they brought us to an old pier that was destroyed during a storm. William went in the water there to see some small sharks, but it was in difficult conditions so not allowed to stay for long.

      It's also an island famous for whaling business. There was the possibility to go on a tour to see whales, but we knew it was at the end of the season. Humpback Whales come here to breed and give birth from November ...

      After a nice morning at our beach, we decided to drive north from Kapalua, which is an area we haven't been to before. Turns out the road is as curvy as the Road to Hana and the scenery is breathtaking. In the evening we had our best meal yet, at Star Noodles.
