        ... Later they learned to make pottery and used clay vessels for everyday use as well as for ornaments. Clay pots were much easier for collecting and storing water – a precious commodity! There is evidence that they traded with people from as far away as New Mexico as artifacts from these places were found on the site.

        ... is the Sangre de Cristo Range, at the base of which sits Great Sand Dunes National Park. The sand dunes rise over 700ft and are made up of wind swept sand from the valley floor. They are so unique that approaching the dunes we both agreed they looked like a computer generated image against the sky and mountains.
