... too damns up at Lake Isabella were put there for agricultural purposes and then coming back on our return trip coming into the valley all the water is diverted and that is why there is no water in the Kern River by us.

As we went up in altitude more trees and greenery appeared. When we started into the NF it was a tight 2 lane road and then it became a 4 lane highway. I guess that is a shortcut from Nevada thru DV and ...

A Trip Brought on By Genealogy

A travel blog entry by miss.chris on Jun 27, 2013

I was lamenting the fact that I would not be at Stonehenge for the Solstice this year as we had planned. As I spoke I was thinking about next summer; the trip to Indonesia, perhaps the trip to Europe we didn't make this year, but then maybe we should do something different in Europe.

My jeans were soaked through, as were my walking shoes and socks, so walking through more snow wasn’t an issue anymore, even if my socks were cutting me with every step as the trench foot became frost bite. I fell to the side whilst coming down the final stretch, but managed to put my hand out just in time to stop myself, only to put my hands out again a little later on, just to find them disappear into the metres of snow below. Neither fall was too ...
