    ... two weeks would not be enough time for me to get an experience which would fulfill my expectations (IHF's voluntourist program), so I chose the four week work-study program; I am so glad I did, and part of me wishes I could stay longer. Although three weeks is a relatively short period, it's enough to give me idea of what it's like to life with less at my fingertips and in turn have such an appreciation for what I have.

    ... scrum to get off the boat, were bombarded by taxi drivers. They were quoting ridiculous prices to go just a few miles down the road. Eventually the guy agreed on a sensible price (although I have no idea how much it should cost), £2 seemed quite reasonable.     ... pushed to see evidence out here of what happened just over 10 years ago, unlike the mainland, and by sheer good fortune the two ferries that serve the island were both at sea when the tsunami struck.     ... my bag! It was a slight palava buying a visa. Obviously there was no queue. They have recently increased the price from $25 to $35 for a 30 day visa and I had brought exactly $35 with me. But the woman wouldn't accept one of them as it wasn't in perfect condition (no rips, just a little worn). She asked for another one, I didn't have another one.     ... up diving once. We dove near the Kilometer 0, at a place called The Canyon, which was really beautiful. We saw some huge napoleon fish here and again upon our return in the afternoon to Freddie's. Unlike when we came in august, the water wasn't very calm but the water was still very clear so we swam out into the waves and spent the afternoon swimming! Oh!
