... no its just Dunedin, we would have met eventually. She was proved right later when we met another friend Jasmin and just behind her someone was saying I hear Jasmin Easterbrook's in town'. She turned around to find old friends she hasn't seen in yonks. Seems is quite a common occurrence in a small town then. However both me a Jas agreed it a good showing of natures harmonics when this occurs. By the way thanks so much for taking us to the beach Jasmin, that was awesome ...

... we wouldn't have seen any. They had planted 2 wooden penguins on the cliffs and these attracted one penguin to stand beside them (he does it every night apparently!). Then we spotted a couple more wandering up the steep cliffs - it's amazing how high they climb. We found our first DOC conservation campsite that night at Glencoe Scenic Reserve which was in a forest clearing some miles down a gravel road - v picturesque. Next ...

... one is regarded as a nutter. Further,this is the Southern Hemisphere 45degrees south and Xmas occurs in the summer,in fact at nearly the longest day of the year. It doesn't get dark till about 11PM...try hanging out decorative twinkle lights under those conditions...FOrget it. No creches...and the good news...no endless jingles for 6 weeks in stores and on the telly.No fights about who has the right to display whatever ...

... i got to sample all of them a couple times... but it was ok since they were in small glasses.... Dunedin itself was a nice little stop... some other notable stops: Baldwin street - the world's steepest residential street (kinda not impressive), Pak n Save (the nationwide supermarket which we seem to frequent... cooking our own food saves a HUGE load of money), the Octagon (not the UFC one, the center of town) and that was pretty much it... bye

... I wanted to be at Cathedral Caves at low tide (which I thought would be about 13:30 based on Monkey Island). I skipped Slope Point (southernmost point of South Island) but visited Curio Bay. I took the bus from Christchurch to Dunedin on Thursday.  I got there in the evening, so there wasn't much to do that day.  On Friday I walked around the town for a bit.  There's a Cadbury factory, but I ended up just taking pictures from the outside.  I didn't really have time for a tour, and they wanted to charge a fee just to look around their chocolate displays and shop in their gift shop.  Fortunately, the grocery store across the street sold plenty :) I went on a wildlife ...

We set off for Dunedin which was about 300km away. The roads are not very busy in New Zealand and I haven't yet seen a motorway or a duel carriage road.
