The long trip home

The day has finally dawned dry and hot, it's hard to believe we will be leaving today.

We finish packing, go for breakfast and take some last minute photos of the hotel and our room. We have to be out of the room for 12 noon and are not being collected till 6pm. So we dress for the pool and keep a change of clothing for travelling and s...

Pimps and Ho Ho Ho's

We took an early flight from Siem Reap to Bangkok, and then Bangkok to Phuket. When we arrived at Phuket we were dismayed to learn that the last ferry was in an hour, we were forty minutes from the dock, and we still had to collect our baggage. We grabbed our bags and hopped in a cab, and made it with only a few minutes to spare. The ferry ride ...

Bucket Phuket

Ok so as I arrived in Phuket quite late the previous evening and when it had gone dark I really didn't know where the hell I had ended up apart from Tourist city in a less fumigated but more humid Bangkok. I walked down to the beach, stayed there for about an hour and then decided to walk round the shopping distict and had a few drinks as I stop...

Mosaic Feet

After saying goodbye to Kristina at Phi Phi Pier, we loaded onto an air conditioned boat, and were over in Phuket in one hour and a half. I slept on the deck in the searing sun, while Jon watched a movie about secret agent gerbils.

We unloaded, and the usual pickup by stickers operation got started, when we were spotted by the stickers...

Kho Phi Phi

We arrived in Kho Phi Phi on morning of Sat 26th and rented an almost beach front bungalow. This island was devastated (along with Phuket) by the Asian tsunami in 2004 and so the first thing we saw was the tsunami evacuation signs (200m this way). Around 230,000 people died in the Asian tsunami which struck on Boxing day 2004.

As I write ...

Catch Up

So to play catch up on my adventures!
5/19
We went to Phi Phi Island which may have been one of my favorite excursions. We loaded up on a boat and sped out to our first destination. The water was crystal clear to where you could look straight down into the water and see tons of fish a couple dozen feet under. We fed some of the fishe...

Early start to hit the beach

Getting up early (what?) I leave and grab a taxi to Ao Nang where I can get yet another long-tail boat to Railly Beach. The taxi drive itself was stunning with rocks sticking out of the ground 100m high. It is very pretty and probably the most naturally beautiful place I have seem in Thailand so far. I arrive and get a boat. This all goes very s...

Reggae has never sounded sweeter

Shane says; We left yesterday on a long boat for the hippy mecca that is Ton Sai. It's full of rock climbers (some cool, some arrogant) and Thai stoners that run the bars and play bongos. I love this place. Oh, it also has manic bats, and horny monkeys. The cliffs are amazing. It seems most of the rock climbers are German, and a few Israelis (wh...

Day 2 - Koh Phanak to Koh Dam Khwan

Our route for the today took us around the top of Phang Na Bay in a clockwise direction, ending up around 30 miles away at Koh Dam Khwan. As we were about to leave our overnight anchorage, we were approached by two fisherman in a longtail boat with their fresh catch of prawns. We bartered with them and managed to buy some super-fresh prawns desp...

Paradise in Phuket

We ate breakfast and boarded the bus for the airport at 6am.
The Bangkok airport is a regular airport and my friend is pretty
excited as my friend has never flown before. We had a easy flight in a jet to Phuket. We find a taxi and start looking through the Lonely Planet guide for a hotel. We head for Kata beach and I booked the room as ...
