Today I am thinking about the birth of hope. As the finishing touches go on the paper that will be presented at Reed College this Saturday, I paused at the line in the "Christmas Carol" when Scrooge appealed to the ghost of Christmas Future, "I'm not the man I was, I will not be the man I must have been....
