Im talking right back... like I couldn't even see my screen and my knees were crushed. I asked him nicely to put his chair up a bit, to which he obliged... however as soon as I got up to use the facilities, I came back to see his chair had come straight back... ... warm day and the beach was busy. It is a very wide white beach meaning a long walk from the boardwalk to get to the water. Desperate for a toilet stop we joined the queues at the public toilet on the beach. Pretty awful. Checked out the skating/rollerblading and dancing and then walked along the crowded boardwalk. ... apparently. Upon arriving back at the hostel we were informed that we could go to a club for $20 entry and celebrate in style. We passed at this chance and it turned out to be a smart decision as half an hour later others came back and said the club was closed! I'm still not sure what happened to the other bus load of people who dropped off at various locations all over LA to watch fireworks. I can only fear the worst.

We spied the Whisky-a-Go-Go across the street from us. It looked smaller than I’d expected and was advertising bands by the name of Mr Hyde, Prowler, and the headlining act, the quite alliterative, if slightly off-putting, Dance Cancer. Angela and I were sat across the road in a sex shop.
We had ended up in it by mistake. “Shall we go for a coffee over there?” Angela said when we’d first hit Sunset ...

... and we were left with no confirmed seats at all and every seat on the plane had suddenly been taken. Refusing to stress out about it, I went to bed thinking it was probably just some stupid technical glitch, which will sort itself out in the morning.

I woke up today and found out, much to my horror, that the problem with Qantas did not sort itself out. We still did not have any confirmed seats, and there were no available seats left on the ...
