      ... workers, and became the setting for one of John Steinbeck's most colourful novels, Cannery Row. The nearby Spirit of Steinbeck Monterey Wax Museum recreates scenes from California's past, including scenes from Steinbeck's novels.  I am now the proud possessor of a copy of 'Cannery Row' which I bought at the aquarium, the obvious place to buy books.       We stop at a small stall that sells all sorts of fast food and start chatting to the operator..times are hard in America and a lot of people work two jobs. This chap works here after his regular job (which took a long time to get in the first place) for extra cash. He is good to talk to and it gives us an insight into America 2013.

      ... in the Canyon Village for a couple of nights and what we discovered was a center parcs type arrangement, albeit spread a bit further apart and with the Grand frigging Canyon in it. If I could just stop calling it the Grand National I'd be doing ok. We did the things you'd expect there and travelled around as much of the south rim as possible.
