    Flying back to Auckland we had originally intended to see more of the North Island. However, the yachts in the Volvo round the world race had arrived from China and were due to leave for Brazil during our stay. It had stunning views of the sunset over the Auckland countryside, but the hotel itself was being revived by a new young team from a faded past.
