    ... they spoke great English. And when I got to the room wow, this place just kept getting better and better! At night time we decided to go and check out the very popular 5th avenue and have some nice traditional Mexican dinner and shop!

    ... Mcnasty's!! Who in their right mind, names a hostel this I'll never know. Well the place stood up to its name that's for sure. It was pretty nasty, but we just kept saying it's just somewhere to place our heads for the night and as soon as morning came we would explore the island for a better option.     ... tourist strip and the prices were so much cheaper! Took a taxi back to the hotel and booked a day at the park next door for tomorrow. We then grabbed some lunch and headed off to find some space at the pool. We ended up at a different pool today very nice and quiet. Walked down to the beach in the evening to see the sunset.     Today we moved off to Playa del Carmen and after some obligatory looking round and a nice cold beer I decided to take a trip to Tulum, another ruined Mayan settlement.

    Really pleased I went because I was concerned it might be too similar to Chichen Itza but Tulum is right on the coast and generally feels less foreboding than its much larger and more famous cousin. It was more used for dwellings as well as temples ...
