... If he had worked in an English speaking country, he surely wouldn't be living in Poland now. Fair point.
He took us out to visit Anita's babcia. We went to a tiny little village out of town that looked like it'd seen better days. In fact, most of Poland had seen better days. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, and more recently, the induction into the E.U, all of Poland's wealth and labour force had moved west across the border ...
... Mountains is part of the larger Sudetes range. Its highest peak is Sniezka which stands on the border between the Poland and Czech Republic - at a height of 1602 meters above sea level. The mountains are wonderful for trekking and ski. Large areas of the mountains are preserved as National Park.

... rain delay of the trip. We were camping just outside the town of Podebrady, and it rained all evening, all night, and all morning. It was too gross to contemplate, so we decided to sit it out. Well, most of a novel, a couple beers, and 3 hours of Olympic track and field coverage later (the campground had a restaurant, with TV) it actually did stop raining. By then it was 5 pm so we chalked that day up to Recovery. We DID learn that ...
Teplice, Bohemia, Czech Republic steffeff... that most of people travel to Poland through Germany, which was pointless for us. Therefore we took another bus to H... something, and from there we hitchhiked twice to Szklarska Poreba. Finally at home! Well, almost. Afterwards we took a Polish coach to Jelenia Gora and from there we had a journey straight towards home - to Wroclaw and Opole. We wanted to spend the upcoming night in our own beds, that`s why the last ...
Szklarska Poreba, Western Poland, Poland bogna... we were rewarded with terrific views on both sides, particularly down into a valley on the Czech side near the mountain resort town of Pec Pod Snezku. By the time we reached the summit it was quite cold and the clouds had gathered so we couldn't see a thing. However, as with many Polish mountains there was a restaurant there which gave us a chance to sit down and have a bite to eat in relatively warm surroundings. Luckily enough, within 10 minutes the clouds had parted, revealing the ...
Karpacz, Western Poland, Poland will... as I have finally relented and allowed her to have access to the heater, this is due to the clothing crisis, we look silly in just jumpers and shorts (I think this was Jennies plan all along!!). We didn't manage to get into the local town except for the shopping trip as the priority was for Jenn to get the washing done - it may appear that I am a slave driver, but when the lav breaks down I have my hand in the socket fixing it so don't feel too bad.
Trutnov, Czech Republic rob.jenn... a plain joyfull time :) We manage to come back home just on time to meet with Daniella's friend, her father also arrived so I could get introduced. Later on we sat on to watch a movie... a pretty complicated one actually: The Fountain. This whole playing in the snow got me a cold though :S ---------- January 29 Not knowing what to do, I finally board a bus so that I would make sure to arrive in Brno. It was a long ride ...
Trutnov, Czech Republic maplefantaThe day after crossing back into Poland, we stopped in Wollmierz. If the Eagle's were European, this would have been their Hotel California. Greeted by smiles and tea, unfortunately no pink champagne, we toured this defunct train station now offering daily departures in puppet theatre, oil painting, and welding junk. . After eating the special cake, we were offered to sleep in "Dracula's guest house". We checked out at 7 am despite the voices down the corridor.
Wollmierz, Poland markszulgitThe day began way too early, with a 530 taxi ride to the airport. We checked in, then went to the gate to wait for the flight. The kids fell asleep on the benches. Flight went through Copenhagen, and we had to go twice through immigration in order to change planes -- what a pain! But we made our flight to Prague, and our small Fokker aircraft was comfortable and departed on time, so all was ...
Szklarska Poreba, Poland ahartryThursday 13 July At Zagan found an English speaker who directed me to the tourist information that didn't exist so in the end started asking for Stalag 3 and started getting somewhere. Found an English speaking electrical shop and managed to get a polish adaptor as I'd left mine at Harrys. Fortunatly the owners son was in Cork so they gave me a lift to the museum 4k out of town. Museum was excellent although the building was ...
