The gorgous Gorges de Jonte

Took us a while to find a park last night as we were aiming to stay in Le Rozier which is close to the start of Gorges de Tarn as that was the drive we wanted to do today.

Unfortunately roadworks stood in our way and we took the next best option of the drive through Gorges du la Jonte.

Stunning is the best way to descirbe this drive. I got the ...

Beautiful Place

Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne... Literally translates to beautiful place, which is the prefect description for this little village nestled on the Dordogne River. We found a fab parking spot for the night right on the rivers edge next to a cute little cottage with purple painted ...

The Dordogne

We left the west coast and headed inland to look for work. We stopped at Angouleme for lunch which had a spectacular view from the old city. We carried on into the Dordogne, and looking for a campsite came across a municipal site in a little town called Argentat-sur-Dordogne. The weather was stifling hot, which that night brought on 24 hours of massive thunderstorms and then 3 days of rain! The Dordogne was flooding and even Argentat lost electricity one night!

... station where we'd rented it, and fortunately didn't have to deal with any of the damage on it at the time (but now we're grappling with bad insurance guys, wishing we'd just taken the darn collision insurance...arggh). The TGV station in Avignon is very cool -- clean and modern and airy. But you do have to pay a euro to the cleaning woman if you need to use the bathroom there. A better deal, if you can hold it, is to ...

day of rest in conques

alright, our first rest day. I apologize to anyone who finds a typo in my writing first of all. the french use a different keyboard layout and i'm not very adjustable apparently. So where to start? so far our trip has been wonderful, and having a day of rest only amplifies our feeling. today, while resting, we've managed to meet with a friar of the local cathedral and monastery dedicated to saint ...

Just arrived in Espalion

... day, and as few as 13 km on the fourth day. few but painful walking wounds have surfaced between jeff, tams, and i. tams has been afflicted with some painful blisters on her toes which have been attributed to her toes which like to wiggle and in her boots are not able. for the past few days she has been in her chacos, and life seems to be shining a lot of sun on her now. Jeff, who i'd like to mention is not carrying any of the video ...

BB, 22nd August

... Probably more fun to write. Jules offered us a ride. And dispatched one of his rabbit-toothed dogsbodies to take us down the road. He drove us two minutes, then stumbled through a long and awkward farewell-see-you-soon-youve-been-gr**** ****-what-was-your-name-again-sorry? Freedom! Ride with an English teacher (a French one). Quite creepy. Never become a Language teacher. Serious "autostop ...

Misery. We´re so WET. Chris didn´t sleep. And I barely did. Found a cheap super market and bouhgt a cheap roast chicken to dry our sorrows. A bad move. This over-preserved chicken´s soul will come back to haunt us. Catch about six rides from village to village til we get to ...

Week One - beautiful Italy

... rows of cypress pines lining the winding roads, the beautiful little villages, the vines lining every slope, the olive groves, the colours of Tuscany. Having bought provisions from the village, we settled into our apartment in the old converted stables overlooking the vineyards, for an Italian feast of fresh tomatoes and basil with local buffalo mozzarella in the delicious Villa Branca oil, meats and fresh bread followed by fresh, juicy figs and cheeses. We ...

Cold in Crap Filled Cahors

... town with lots of dogs and um, dog presents. Mel and her poo shoe gave us a chuckle until we saw it outside her hotel room door. Perhaps it would magically clean itself? There is even a dog fountain! We went for a walk around this sleepy town and then visited a market where I bought tomato, brie, avacado and some fruit. Then we did some wine tasting...it was very good but I did not allow myself to buy any. After ...
