Less than 4 weeks to go.....

... upon me it feels very strange and somewhat daunting. But to my knowledge no one has ever died from teaching children so I am sure I will survive.... My Amazon book order should arrive soon to inspire me. I am really looking forward to discovering the 100 things you can do with a paper plate. Life is never going to be the same!!

More when I start travelling...

Gorges Verdon... Route Napoleon

... wine bottle and then we thought they were off on the trail, but no they got in the car and drove on!
At the end of the gorge we joined the road towards Cannes, which was route Napoleon, orginially created by him as a pass through the mountains...very windy. Our destination for the evening was Grasse where we found a good park overlooking the city lights and our first view of the Med.

... tour for monday and spent the day seeing 5 different castles.
Our first castle was chenonceau, which remains my favorite. if i'm ever a fairy princess thats my castle. I think what made it so incredible was actually the fog. it was so ridiculously foggy you could barely see the outline of the castle which added to the surreal feel of all of it. unfortunately we made it back to the van late and our driver got all ***** and french at us. later ...

Antibes and St-Tropez

Cannes is not as glamrous as we thought it would be, it still has all the fancy smancy stores along the beach, but there were definitely no red carpets rolled out when we were there. We did a day trip to St-Tropez, its was the end of a hge sailing competitiona and tons of ...

First Day In France (Nice, Miramar)

... great except language barrier and nakedness can be somewhat awkward. We freshened up and met everybody at the lounge. It was great to see many familiar faces as well as new. I worked on my laptop while everybody attended the presentation for the Ducati Monster, the bike I would shortly know up close and personal. Dinner was ok but company was great. Desert was the best with a good ten minutes of joking about the pear desert consisting of "balls and juice". Guys will ...

Exploring the city of Nice Day 1

Despite it being difficult that night for me to sleep, I was somewhat well rested and felt rather well the next morning. Sadly I was starting to feel a bit sick. Before leaving Dijon, I had started to have the symtoms of a cold. I had an itchy throat and a bit of a cough, but I had stayed home and had taken medicine in the hopes that i had nipped my cold in the bud, but sadly it was starting to creep up again. No matter, I was ready for some breakfast ...

Nice was Nice!

... albeit briefly, in the hype of the Grand Prix moment. We did so but at great expense; 7 euros for a lemonade!! From there we headed home by train, a journey that was much like a post Swans' match one...much laughter and friendly banter from passengers, lots of Americans. We then headed out to Place de Jesus for dinner, a square surrounding the church Iglesia de Jesus and, yes, more gelato before tucking into bed for our last night in Nice. Off to Milan and then Lake Como, Bellagio tomorrow.

Last day in Paris and onto Nice

... on the train was looking out the window. I arrived in Nice and found my hostel, hotel Baccarat. The hostel looked like a really nice hotel on the outside, with marble and gold lettering. It was ok, I met some aussies and walked with them to the market to buy stuff for sandwiches. I lost them in the market and ended up meeting them back at the hostel. I went and explored the down about dusk, walked buy the water, it was really nice ...
