... rain and hail. Not too much fun as far as I’m concerned. I’d rather be in a motor home with no air conditioning. At least we aren’t on the wet, muddy ground.

After we left the lake we headed back north on the 237 and we stopped at Crescent Lake to see if we could find a suitable spot for Harley to go in the water. We pulled into a parking area and got him out but as we got closer to the lakes edge, it was way too muddy so we ...

... went by. It started as a family of five boys, and the latest picture showed at least 20 people. Well, I digress. We had some good treats and when we were done we realized that they had a nice seating area outside under the trees and we all wondered why we sat inside. Too late now.

We took a different route back to the house and we hung around for a bit just talking and relaxing. We saw several birds enjoying the water feature in the ...

We made it back to the RV Park and went into the gift shop that they had to get a couple of souvenirs that we had seen earlier in our stay. We ended up with a sack full of stuff and a wallet that was $100 lighter.

We finally made it back to the coach and got it ready to shove off. We bid a fond farewell to Gallup and headed west (southwest if you look at the map) on the I-40 once again. It was a fairly short 145 miles to ...

    ... again.

As they pulled out from the driveway last night, I wanted to cry. While I'm excited to make our way cross country there's another part of me that wants to stay home. Once again FaceTime will have to get us through!

We're headed back to the casa tomorrow and will be there just long enough to repack and hit the road by Monday afternoon. Sure gonna miss the cool pines of northern AZ.

We ended the day with a great dinner at Charlie Clarks's Steak house. We ran into an old friend from work, Ron Smith, who is also up here with his family. Ron mentioned he and his family were hiking today not far from the San Juan fire that has flared up east of Show Low. Already 2,000 acres burned. So sad for the families who live in the area and for the beautiful forest in this area.
