    Relaxing in the Pines

Our last couple of days here in Show Low have been spent relaxing and seeing the countryside. The babes are too little and Alle too pregnant for anything strenuous, so we've taken advantage of the being outdoors on the back porch, shopping, eating out, and sadly, checking out the situation just down the road with the San Juan fire. Alle and Eric spoke with some people up in the area and were told the wind ...

... we would be tired after being out all day, I got up early and made meatballs and sauce. Alle threw a nice salad together and we had an awesome dinner followed by a nice evening on the porch.

Roy is off to the golf course today, so we're going to hang out here and maybe do a little shopping later. Aubrey has had another growth spirt in the last week and none of her shoes fit!! Love that ...

Overall, I have to say this place is so much nicer than any other cabin we've stayed in up in this area. I'll score it a 8.5 out of 10 mainly because it's built into the side of a big hill and there's no flat ground for the kids to play outside.

Glad we all made it up the mountain safe and sound.

... dry day. Contrary to what you might think, riding a Harley on a hot day is not the least bit refreshing. It feels like riding in a blast furnace. Can't wait to ride into La Quinta Saturday when it's 110, or whatever! Forty-five minutes later, I roll into Show Low. According to the legend, Show Low was named after a marathon poker game between Coryden Cooley and Marion Clark in 1875. The two men decided there was not enough room for both of them ...

    Salt River Canyon

Much cooler today, in the mid 80's and overcast
It only sprinkled when I was filling up the car.
Salt River Canyon is spectacular but requires driver concentration. I am glad it was a short day.
Tomorrow, I am aiming for Cortez, CO. for the weekend
    Today's lunch was forgetable ...
