    Techno nightmare

The bungalows are old and not worth their price. The beach close to the hotel is really nice, and their main selling point. The bungalows are too close to the bar, which plays terrible and super loud techno music up until 3.00 am at least. This makes it impossible to sleep

We took a boat-bus ticket to reach the Krabi region from Koh Tao. I was still limping, but my foot felt a little bit better. The ride was nice and easy, without major events. We reached Krabi town at around 2 p.m, and decided to take it easy and stay on the coast for one night before going to Koh Phi Phi. We decided to go to Ao Nang, the nearest …

    Koh Phi Phi

... others, lots of stalls / shops more or less selling the same thing, and masses of tattoo parlours that probably do a good trade later on in the evening's proceedings.
Today we went on half trip for me to do two dives and Rianne for snorkelling. The first dive was pretty nice, not spectacular in terms of coral but plenty of fish and some impressive gorgonians. The ...

... the good playlist. On our last day we got an unavoidably expensive long boat to Maya Bay, the famous beach on an island just near Koh Phi Phi where The Beach was filmed. Although packed with tourists, the bay was undeniably beautiful, with the clearest water and whitest sand, surrounded by jungle. It almost didn't look real! That afternoon we trekked up to the islands viewing point which was difficult even in the afternoon heat! The view was impressive, we could ...

... a choppy ride back to Lanta, which was at least 45 minutes away even in good conditions... We set off into the choppy water and immediately the rain came... We had, inevitably, ended up in our original seats - the ones that were the only ones in full sunlight earlier in the day. Well, now they were the only ones fully exposed to the waves. And the rain. We got utterly and completely drenched. Huddled behind our towels, we just laughed as the sea and the clouds let loose on ...
