Greek Isles

... I got lost a few times but I needed the exercise, so all was well.

The next day I quickly made my way through the New Town (more modern part - which is just like any other town in any other country) and then spent the rest of the day discovering the Old City (the Old Town as the locals now call it). It was fascinating!! I could have spent a week there! I made friends with a lovely old dog on the way, and to my surprise, found he faithfully followed me ...

Sadly no turtles, but a lot of birdwatching, including tiny little blue kingfishers, that looked like little kookaburras that had been dyed blue...
I came back to my hostel late in the evening to find that all the prices on the dinner menu had been increased from the night before!! cheeky *******s... Needless to say - I had no reason to stay here another night...

6 ladies, two men, two weeks, only 1 Turkiye!

I was really overdue my holidays, finally getting to take it in October and I just signed up to two weeks of not doing much in Turkey with a couple of friends in a group. For me though not doing much isn't my cup of tea so I took every chance to re-live my old Turkey memories, from food, sights, sea, dancing and ahem, yes the men, again :)

Please come back soon as I update all the stories from the two weeks. Thanks.

Layed Back

Another beautiful day. Sunny 78 degrees on the island of Rhodes. We travel to Lindos half way down the island. To see the Acropolis were Paul spoke to the Greeks. A long climb to the top with a view to forever. Just outstanding. Back to the boat early to catch some sun by the pool.

I am going to upload a couple of pics from yesterday on Myconos to give you an idea of the beauty here.

Day trip to Rodos

... But they were our first ruins, so we enjoyed them anyway. The best part about the area was that we were all the way on top of the island, and could see for miles down the coast in either direction.
We zig-zagged our way down the hill and back into town, rewarded ourselves with a glass of wine at a local cafe. We were excited to try our first greek restaurant, and even ...

A nice little break on a long journey.

... our day over it was time to catch our ferry to Athens. On our budget we chose the cheapest ticket available. Which means "Deck." But unfortunately for us what we didn't realise was that this means it is the only place on board were you can smoke. So the rest of the night with the lights on and us trying to get a nights sleep on our hard plastic benches, we breathed in the refreshing air of smoke. Shona has now got a smokers cough.

This is going to be a tough couple of days.

... well and we were told that our main diagram looked like, "The plan for the Death Star." I am not going to lie, this is my favorite critique I have ever received on any of my projects. I feel like I am going to put that quote on all of my resumes in the future, because that review definitely gives me street cred. I am going to be the Vanilla Ice of the architectural world. In the afternoon, we trucked off to Sincha, which ...

... siege, the Turks won it under Suleman the Magnificent. This was the state of affairs until Turkey's disastrous backing of the wrong horse in the First World War, when the Italians, with the help of the Greeks, won it back. Then Italy went bad on them when fascism became popular and it wasn't until the end of the Second World War when British soldiers marched in, giving it back to Greece.

I asked the woman at the entrance to a watchtower where I could find the museum. She had ...
