There has been some sort of place of worship on this site since 628 AD, although the current temple was built in 1950. Leading up to the Temple is a magnificent gate and pedestrianised walkway with little shops selling a range of things from snacks and touristy kitch to crafts and gifts. 8 km walk from walk Magemo to Tsumago.

The guide book and the tourist information centre told me that it would take 3hours to walk it.
However I only had 2, as I got up way to late to actually do this walk. What can I say i did it in 1 1/2 hours :)

Rock'n Roll!!!! found the coolest little coffee shop in Tsumago.

... stream of people walking away, hoping that they would lead us to the next point of the program or to the place to be. But they scattered and in the end we were standing there alone, so we took a lovely walk back to the hostel. Beni, my travel companion and boyfriend, went to the hot onsen while I was staying in the lobby. One of the favourite things to tell about the hostel: they played music from Miyazaki movies (like from Princess Mononoke or Totoro). I love these ...
