... shift was pretty chill, and then at 4:30 I had a Skype with Nick. Yay! I took a brief nap after that and then joined Emma, Tom, Jillian, and Alex for dinner. But today is Thursday, and Thursday is BBQ night at Pembroke. Except by BBQ they mean boiled hotdogs and bland hamburgers with awful toppings and salad with no dressing. And ice cream. I tried to eat my hamburger, I really did. But I couldn't. I can never eat the BBQ ...

Corpus only has 97 students house there, so they took 10 packs of the folders, which came in packs of 10. It takes ages to get this all sorted...but finally its done and we can get the van repacked. Its not perfect, but we manage to fit three bags and the wheelchair (and the humans) in relative comfort. WE shall see how long this lasts!

"I wonder anybody does anything at Oxford but dream and remember, the place is so beautiful. One almost expects the people to sing instead of speaking. It is all like an opera."

Tuesday Eva had to go back to work, but the rest of us planned to spend the day in Oxford. We caught the bus from Abingdon and were in Oxford within 30 minutes. We walked around the town, following signs for the information center. There, we picked up a map, ...

... dirt path towards the rose garden. On the way we see gardeners a plenty, manicuring the lawns, pulling weeds and even one using clippers to clip the grass lining the path, making sure it is even. We have never see such meticulous care on a garden, and can't imagine how much time it takes to trim with clippers each blade of grass that dares to rise higher than the rest. The rose garden overlooks the lake and is set in a circular pattern. There are only 4 varieties ...
