... the Lantern Carnival. The place was teeming with people, but seeing all the different brightly colored lanterns shining in the night was oh so cool. Not to mention the wide eyed wonder of the adorable little Asian kids was pretty adorable too. We made it to the Harbor about an hour before the fireworks were to go off. ... we found one run by a crazy Italian lady who was hilarious. Katie got her hair cut by a Russian woman who spoke very little English, which was slightly concerning, however it turned out ok! To celebrate not ending up with a skinhead we went to the Newtown Hotel for an afternoon tipple, it had a lovely beer garden out the back and a balcony upstairs looking over the main street. We stayed for a couple of hours relaxing and enjoying the sun before catching the train home
