... find a place to stay in Olinda without trying to arrive on a Saturday.

Had seen the powdery white sandy beach stretching on forever on the bus, with surf pounding so was more keen to stock the fridge, have a shower, siesta and wash my sweaty clothes, than head out in the blazing sun.

When I did emerge, found the strong breeze had kept the heat bearable but high tide meant waves crossing ...

Waited until after rush hour to head off and just missed one of the infrequent buses to Sao Felix – the next wasn't until 11.40 and given the 2 hour journey time, just seemed too much bus given my impending 12 hour trip tonight.

We had some difficulty finding our hostel, we managed to get on the right bus from the Rodoviaria but just not get off at the right stop (the directions from the hostel where not great in our defence). After Chris had walked around half the city we decided to get a cab to the hostel which in the heat of the day was a great idea. Maybe we were getting to used ...

... kake, a brazileira from foz travelling together with a spanish guy. Receptionist was a very funny paulistano and there was another strange guy around, probably the one that runs the place. Breakfast was prepared by beda and really basic. But the beach was just about 6 blocks away and excellent! Warm water, nice sand and palms. So I spent some nice days on the beach with company. Enjoying lindas stroganoff or chicken ...
