... reef so no good for swimming. Nice to see some sagui, mini marmosets, running around from mango tree to tree along the telephone lines right in the centre of town. Was a cute little baby on the mother’s back too.

Waited until after rush hour to head off and just missed one of the infrequent buses to Sao Felix – the next wasn't until 11.40 and given the 2 hour journey time, just seemed too much bus given my impending 12 hour trip tonight.

The tourist office suggestion would have been pleasant if I had been dressed for it and not in my big boots and heavy clothes, not ideal for walks in the sand. ...

... Pottery Barn. She just kept saying “wow” and “I could buy the whole store”. The tour made a stop downtown, slow traffic and busy shopping everywhere in Maceio. Our next stop was Maceió, a city but with a beach - we just can't seem to leave the coast! We had some difficulty finding our hostel, we managed to get on the right bus from the Rodoviaria but just not get off at the right stop (the directions from the hostel where not great in our defence). ... kake, a brazileira from foz travelling together with a spanish guy. Receptionist was a very funny paulistano and there was another strange guy around, probably the one that runs the place. Breakfast was prepared by beda and really basic. But the beach was just about 6 blocks away and excellent! Warm water, nice sand and palms. So I spent some nice days on the beach with company.
