    ... enjoy our lovely surroundings.

Our first day in Geraldine proved to be a little cloudy and wet so we opted for a drive to Peel forest for a walk or two. There are some giant trees there that are hundreds of years old and they really are huge! It actually dried up quite nicely for us too and we were joined on part of our walk by a fun little bird called a Fantail - talk about a friendly little creature. Our second walk was to Acland Falls - more of a ...

It was impressive to witness, but it wasn't what it once was even 5 or so years ago, it was receding at an alarming rate in which we were lucky to even see it exist. Bronnie was in good spirits on her second day as a 53 year old. Amazing that a single comment by a guy over a week ago complementing her behind had continued ...

Found a great bike and walking track, called A2O, Alps to Ocean which starts at Mount Cook and ends at the sea in Oamaru. I found it after running uphill from the site for a mile and came across a recently converted train track. It's not train track all the way cos we kept seeing it as we drove up the Waitaki Valley where it is still being finished off in places. It makes a great running track and I wasn't alone this ...

... particularly Ostler...we were very fortunate that, even though the shop is usually only open weekends from noon-2 pm, the owner, Jim, happened to be in the store with the door open so he welcomed us in! Turns out Jim was a medical doctor, son of an oncologist, who gave up his medical practice and turned viticulturist when he and his brother-in-law bought some ...
