Die Überfahrt gut überstanden, hatten wir uns für eine Nacht im freundlichen kleinen Picton ein gebucht. Der Plan ‚nur-Sachen-anschauen,-die-Max-no ch-nicht-gesehen-hat' ging nicht ganz auf, gibt es doch nur wenige Straßen hoch und runter. Aber es ist eh jedes Mal anders und zumindest das erste Ziel hatte ich noch nicht gesehen: Auf zum Abel Tasman National Park. Die engen Kurven der Malborough Sounds bekamen Cori nicht so gut.

Getting off the trail
... south to Dunedin.
On our way south we stopped at the cool Moeraki Boulders, I'm afraid I can't remember how these round things were formed, so you'll have to google it, but they were cool, and on arrival in Dunedin we headed up the Otago Peninsular where we visited Larnach Castle, which wasn't a castle by European standards, but at least they tried, and it was a stunning setting too.

... petrol station and Louie was adamant we wouldn't make it! In true eco drive fashion we turned off the fridge, took the iPod charger out of the cigarette lighter and turned the radio off! With the petrol gauge now lower than the empty line and off the scale we limped on. Driving alongside the river we could see the bridge into Cromwell and knew we were within 5km.

... the large sprayed on symbols and numbers on the front doors deeming it unsafe and destined to be become rubble from the oldest of churches to brand new modern apartment blocks. The place was deserted apart from construction workers, and a few coffee shops managing to survive.
