Just when we thought Venice was the most beautiful place we would visit in Italy, Varenna may have beaten it into second place. Neither of us can get our heads round the fact that we are actually seeing what's around us. The apartment is amazing and the views from the balcony alone are worth the trip. Claire has also befriended a blind cat so we keep having to think of excuses to go and see the lady so Claire can rub the cat.

... walk to the lookout point we passed by a table set up for wine tasting...well,,,we did NOT pass it by...we stopped for the tasting. First the two red wines, one dry and the next drier yet...it was more like one bad and the other even worse. We were reluctant to try the white wine, but at that point we could not find the words to say NO. We listened to his sales pitch that they produce 50,000 bottles and export most of them. We know why...no Italian ...
... Clooney's house ( I mean really, 25 million euro for that? There are better houses along lake buddy.) Bellagio was also quaint, and we had lunch along the waters edge at a nice restaurant. After the ride home we got home at 4:00pm and had a light dinner. That night when surfing the Italian channels (being a bit over the Fox News junk), they were playing the Sleepover (2004 classic movie) with Italian dubs. Takes me back. Amazing. Highlight? ...
... the walk. At the last town we visited, Monterosso, we went swimming in the Gulf of Genoa and then went out to eat where we had some of the best pesto.. EVER! After that we grabbed a bottle of wine and headed to our train for Pisa.
