... it, and then it decided to take us through a tiny mountain village where the roads were so narrow we barely had a couple of inches on either side of the car !! So all in all some exciting moments, but the best bit about the trip was the scenery yet again - breathtaking ...

... overnight stop at Mmmmm. We pass through more stunning scenery including another hill top town called Episcopi. Eventually, aft dark, we arrive at the town of mmmmm, but cannot find the hotel so we stop at s petrol station and a driver who is filling up,is very helpful and said if we follow him he will take us the.......which he does and were very grateful as we do not know how we would have found it otherwise! ...

... knowing that we had travelled all the way from Australia just for this night, proceeded to greet us and then in Italian gave a detailed run down of his menu.

We spent last night is the very unique little town of Alberobello, Italy which is about one hours drive from our demarcation point of Bari. Alberobello has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. It has a population of about 11,000 people and is recorded as having been first settled sometime in the mid 14th century. Having finished our lunch in Civita we make our way to Morano Calabro another hilltop town in Calabria. I'm really keen to visit as it's the first town in Calabria on this trip that I have never visited. It's wonderful discovering new places they add a new dimension to the holiday.
