... in cash. As the fare was less than 16 for the two of us, I had plenty of Leva left, which I'd managed to avoid with any other currency until Bulgaria. Having spent more than an hour in the railway station, we jumped on Sofia's brand sparkling new Metro to go to the National Palace of Culture. A grand name but not a great deal to see, but then, I only realised it was a conference and exhibition centre afterwards, I was expecting a museum! ...

Burgas yesterday, we went out to Nessebar which is outside Burgas. A lovely old area and worth the visit. Now in another city in Bulgaria, the second largest city. We decided to walk around ourselves as we are churched out.

Off to Sochi tonight, can't get off ship in Russia unless we are on a ship excursions, well we have money to burn.

The darkened debris-filled rooms were eerily reminiscent of first person shoot-em-up video games. I half expected to see Nazi zombies. Otherwise, it mostly seemed like any other abandoned concrete building… until I made it to the next level. My jaw dropped after climbing the last set of stairs leading to the meeting room. ... meat (all kinds of meat?), nuts, cake. The principal was rolling and smoking cigarettes and cigars. It was really fun..until everyone drank a little bit and kept asking me to move to Bulgaria and teach English at their school forever. Awkward..but still great. Haha
