Arrived in Santiago
[Just a brief update to let you know we've arrived safe & sound in South America. Superb so far - more details to follow (plus the rest of NZ!).]
Superb Time in Santiago
Had a great flight, 10 1/2 hours, and arriving around noon on the same day we left Auckland, which is a bit strange! Our itinerary had gone to great pains to stress we had a choice of turning left or right when we come out of customs, and we must turn LEFT (in capitals) to meet our guide. We did this and, after waiting 5 or 10 mins, discovered our …
Splendid Santiago
Santiago is a vibrant city surrounded by the Andes majestic mountains. It is a bustling place full of business workers in the downtown area. Arriving at the hotel 4 hours before check in, we decided to head off to explore the historical centre, navigating the metro system like old pros.
First we stopped at the very elegant Palacio de la …
Arrival in Chile
Our flight from Toronto to Santiago departed and arrived on time. The 10 ½ hours was filled eating twice, sleeping and movie watching. On arrival in Santiago and before clearing customs and immigration all Canadians, Americans, Mexicans, Albanians and Australians are directed to one side where you must pay a reciprocal fee which is good for the …
Entering Santiago
Panorama image from Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org (Click on the image to enlarge) The air is Antarctic clean compared to the oft diesel entrapped fumes of Buenos Aires. Not that the pollution takes much away from the smorgasbord of delights BA offers a tourist. However the freshness of Santiago screams 'you are at the base of the Andes and a …

TravelPod Member ReviewsHotel Orly Santiago
We stayed one night at the Hotel Orly an attractive former villa. The room was not available until late afternoon but the hotel kindly offered us breakfast on arrival. The location is great and very convenient for getting around. Our room was small and cosy and the bathroom was functional. Service friendly.

Small hotel in a good location-safe area, very close to subway, shopping (grocery and department and small stores) nearby. Good restaurants in area-casual to upscale. 25 minute cab ride to airport.
The rooms are quite small, as are the bathrooms, but clean with nice decor-nothing fancy but very nice and restful. The front desk is helpful and usually speaks English so it was great to get them to make restaurant reservations, arrange taxis etc. Nice breakfast (eggs, fruit, toast, juice, coffee, yogurt, baked goods etc.) served in very nice solarium. Nice lobby area to sit in if your flight is late in the day and you have checked out. Computers available for guest use and wifi in each room.

Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Orly Santiago
Hotel Orly--great place to stay!
My husband and I recently returned from Chile (end of March, 2005). We stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Orly and really liked it. The room was quaint, bigger than European hotels, comfortable bed, clean big bathroom, and good cable service. The staff was wonderful: They spoke English excellently, and were very helpful.
Great Hotel
Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast.
Fine Value
Just returned from two night stay after South American cruise. The hotel was spotless and very tastefully decorated. There is a charming small conservatory-style room for breakfast. The neighborhood is extremely convenient and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Great stay,polite staff
We stayed in hotel orly for 2 separate nights. The staff was very polite and spoke great english. This hotel is charming and clean. The matrimonial room is the best as we stayed one night in jr suite and found it smaller but it has 2 bathrooms.
this hotel has a great location and easy access to restruants and bella vista area. On the whole highly reccomend this hotel.
Genteel
Providence was looking after me in 2001, guiding me to Hotel Orly, where I lived for five months. I am, to say the least, a high maintenance guest who NEEDS things a certain way. Hotel Orly has the panache of any world class botique hotel to accomodate guests like me. The guest rooms and breakfast room are enchanting, coffee is first class like the staff and the hip cafe at the front of the hotel. Behind Hotel Orly is my favourite vegetarian restaurant - El Heurto - of all my 30 years of international travels, including USA. For six months in Chile I worked like a dog and survived because of Hotel Orly and El Heurto. I can't wait to return.
The wonderful Hotel Orly.
The Hotel Orly is a great hotel for anyone traveling to Santiago. We chose a junior suite and it was very nice. The staff was outstanding and the location could not have been better. We much preferred staying at the Orly to one of the many international chains in Santiago. The location was bettter and the experience could not have been matched.
Wonderful small hotel in Santiago
The Hotel Orly is a wonderful find in the Providencia area of Santiago. It is a small hotel with a rather charming breakfast area and comfortable rooms. The staff speaks English and is very accommodating. I arrived early and my room was not yet ready. I was invited to breakfast and they tried to provide me with a room sooner rather than later. The rooms and public areas are meticulously clean. The staff is very friendly and I will stay there again.
Loved the Orly
Excellent hotel, very clean, good price and excellent location.
Excellent time in Orly
I have stayed in this hotel 6 or 7 times and I love coming back. The service is wonderful, the place is very clean and quiet and very well located. The manager greets everyone personally and will bend over backwards to help her guests. The only negative comment I would have is that the rooms are not that big, but they are very comfortable. I have been living in Chile for 3 years and have never found a hotel as good as the Orly.
Orly Hotel, the best!
Just returned from 5 wonderful nights at the Orly. My husband and I both work in the travel industry and travel a lot. Our stay at the Orly was one of the most pleasant hotel experiences we have ever had. From the moment we arrived the English speaking front desk person Fransisco took care of us through our entire stay. The rooms were spacious and immaculately clean. The full breakfast served in the cosy lobby/ dining area was a joy every morning. The hotel restarant Cafetto was open every day from 8am - midnight and seemed to have a mix of locals and tourists. We are planning to retirn next yer with a group of family and freinds. ... Until then.. adios.
