We stayed one night at the Hotel Orly an attractive former villa. The room was not available until late afternoon but the hotel kindly offered us breakfast on arrival. The location is great and very convenient for getting around. Our room was small and cosy and the bathroom was functional. Service friendly.

          Hotel Orly-very nice boutique hotel

Small hotel in a good location-safe area, very close to subway, shopping (grocery and department and small stores) nearby. Good restaurants in area-casual to upscale. 25 minute cab ride to airport.
The rooms are quite small, as are the bathrooms, but clean with nice decor-nothing fancy but very nice and restful. The front desk is helpful and usually speaks English so it was great to get them to make restaurant reservations, arrange taxis etc. Nice breakfast (eggs, fruit, toast, juice, coffee, yogurt, baked goods etc.) served in very nice solarium. Nice lobby area to sit in if your flight is late in the day and you have checked out. Computers available for guest use and wifi in each room.

The ms Zaandam arrived in the port of Valparaiso, Chile at 6:00 AM. We were on the Lido Deck (level 8) by 7 AM. Before grabbing our last breakfast we took a stroll on the deck to observe the port city of Valparaiso. It was a sunny day and the city looked its age.

          Santiago, Chile

After another delicious breakfast at the hotel, we once again started to regret the weight of our luggage including the few treasures we purchased. We decided to fill up one carryon bag with "stuff" and headed to the nearest FedEx office. We were lucky it was just a few of blocks up the street.

          Bad news! When we …

Set on the western side of the Plaza de Armas, the Catedral Metropolitana (Cathedral of Santiago) was inaugurated in 1775 and is the fifth church built on this site. The four churches before were destroyed by earthquakes. Cathedral of …

Looking back at the photographs taken in Santiago de Chile we seemed to have crammed quite a lot into our few days in the capital city . . . . as you may well expect!

Our hotel (Hotel Orly) was centrally located although this did mean dropping the bags off at the hotel first and then taking the hire car back to the airport. It seemed a …
