... amid murals and classy old photos... this was a history-loving beer-drinker's wonderland! As it wasn't yet midday, I restrained myself and only ordered a Heffeweisen 'ladysize' to go with my potato soup - I s******ed at the description but as there were other beer halls to do, I knew that if i started tucking into litre steins in each I was going to come a cropper long before bedtime!

After the standard instructions on the various workings of the Apartment we were finally nested for the next several days. ... ok, and I think the ok has only achieved the ok as the terrible is so disappointing. First observation - beer garden = salt garden. Does the Germany of today know no other seasoning? It is so salty we cannot manage a whole dish - our arteries are cringing.

Second observation, "German cooking rule 101, if you think the food is ready - cook for a further hour until it barely holds its original form". I am on multivitamins as nutrition has long left the food here.

... and wooded pathways, we saw hundreds of people running, biking, playing football, and just lying around. Dinner was at a beer Garten in the heart of Englischer Garten. We ended our night eating Gelato and people watching during a concert in the Marienplatz.

Tomorrow we are off to Rothenburg for the day.
