Historical Traveler Reviews of Orlando Grand Plaza
Grand Legacy hotel --- its not bad at all
from A TripAdvisor Member
Hi there, i've just returned home to glasgow after spending 2weeks in florida staying at the legacy hotel. (travelled with airtours/my travel airways)
prior to going i was always worried about the poor reviews the hotel recieved from fellow holiday goers, i almost changed hotels before going due to the awful reviews. let me just fill you in.
on arrival i was surprised, staff are really friendly and nice, theres a visitors desk across from reception, the people there are so nice and will arrange theme park tickets, transportation to malls, advice and information on anything you need.
the hotel room is of basic cleanliness standard, the carpet could do with a wash and new mattresses wouldn't go a miss however fresh towels and face clothes were changed daily, the cleaners were in everyday, emptying bins, hoovering, changing bedding.
the room has a fridge, iron, iron board, bath shower (never had a problem getting hot water), tv with a wide variety of channels. easy to use air-conditioning.
there are two pools in the hotel, both were fine and reasonable clean, open from early morning to late at night. sun beds located around pool. area always kept tidy.
every morning free complimentary shuttle bus takes you to the resort parks ( note: when you are in a disney park, there are disney transport buses that take you to other disneys parks free of charge also) all the parks are great. i also recommend visiting seaworld.
note The hotel also charges you $2.50 per day for use of the safety deposit boxes, air conditioning etc. its worth it though
the hotel is ideally located, theres plently of shops close by, i-ride trolleys (tram buses) will take you all round the place for $1 single. the premium and prime shopping outlets are great and cheap so check them out.
extras
1) dont walk out alone at night always make sure your with someone. i noticed a couple of missing person ads posted up around town so do take care.
2) theres a shop across the road form the hotel called 'world of denim'. my experience in this shop was unforgetable. the staff here were unfriendly and rude. im a white scottish girl and i felt they were racist towards me. they take your bags off you and give you ticket upon entering their shop, they didnt say anything they just grabbed my bags out my hands. then when you try to leave afterwards they leave you standing for ages before they give you your bags back, even then it was a white american guy who gave me my bags back whilst the black women just stood there being rude.
3) tgi fridays and dennys diner were the nicest places to grab something to eat, cheap prices also.
dont worry about the awful reviews of this hotel, its not perfect, if you look for faults you'll find them but you'll be too busy enjoying the theme parks and shoppping to notice.
any questions feel free to contact me.

It's not as bad as painted here

The recent reviews of this hotel are very unfair. I stayed at this hotel from 4 to 11 May 06.
The rooms are OK, quite large and clean. Admittedly some minor repair work e.g. loose towel rail and upgrading is required but no sign of any bugs and I did not hear anyone else complain about this. Towels were replenished every day. Checked in very quickly and reception staff were always helpful and polite. The pool areas were fine.
All was quiet at night and I saw no sign of anyone loitering in or around the hotel. In my experience you should have no worries about staying here.
Not Worthy To Be Called a Hotel

My family and I booked this hotel as a package to Disney World, we were due to stay for 7 nights. When we checked into the hotel and went to our room, it was unclean, the fridge was broken, the ceiling was damp and the paint was peeling off the walls. We changed rooms and it was slightly better, however after one night the air conditioner was not working properly, and the room began to smell, the lights worked intermittently, the were no clean towels we had to ask for some to be brought up to the room, the safe was rusty and didn't work. we left the hotel after 2 nights. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone, as homeless people live better.

Very bad experience. No amenities - like hand towels or face cloths, if you call them amenities. No toilet paper for a day - definitely not an amenity. Noisy neighbors running in halls all night. Fighting all morning. Can't imagine what they will be when they become condos!!!!!!
Beware, what a dump

we went to a well known online site to book a hotel here locally in
orlando for a few days, found what looked like a beautiful hotel and
resonably priced. we checked in with no problem, very nice people. we asked
for adjoining rooms with my brother and his family, again no problem.
got to the rooms and nothing but problems. the rooms smelled of mold,
the adjoing room door was full of mold and jammed shut, the bed frame
from one bed was off and damaged, the dressor/armore had all 5 drawers
broken, both bathrooms were filthy dirty, one had bugs and a spider..
only one towel in each bathroom (there were 4 people in each room).. the
pictures on the website must be from the grand opening years ago, it
looks nothing like what they adveretise. beware!!!! we live here locally
and will never go there again.
Not all that bad

before I booked at the Orlando Grand I had not read the reviews, but I did shortly after. I was so scared from the reviews I read. I do have to admit there was a stinch in the room, that a candle could take care of. Its in GREAT location, lobby was nice desk clerks were nice. They even have a karoke all u can eat restruant on site. The price was very reasonable, but to the complianers, you have to remember you get what you pay for.
Most awful place I have ever been in.

Upon check in on March 11, 2006, the room total we received on the telephone had of course gone up. We did ask to speak to a manager, and she was not helpful at all, in fact, her the clerk at the desk were on the rude side. When calling for the reservation, we asked for handicapped accessible with roll-in showers for wheelchairs. We were told that yes, that was available and the rooms had 2 queen sized beds in them. When we entered the rooms, they were the most awful looking rooms we had ever seen. The beds were not the queen sized as promised, regular double beds, the bathrooms, well, the roll-in showers that we were told we had were actually tub showers. The bathtubs and bathroom floors were filthy, the refrigerator in the room was full of rust on the bottom, the bathroom door looked like someone had punched a hole in it and they made a bad attempt at repairing it. We complained again upon checkout and found that there were several more checking out that were complaining and getting nowhere, even with the management staff. Needless to say, we like the cab driver we talked with will not recommend this hotel to anyone, not even a roach. We will be contacting the Orlando Chamber of Commerce and the Orlando Health Department.
Worst Hotel EVER
from bainsworth
I would like to give the lowest posible ratings to the "Orlando Grand Hotel Suites"
Hotel Service - Awful
The staff was rude and six nights in a row times both guest we had to have our keys reporgrahmed. The desk clerk accused us of damaging them EVERY TIME.
Two maids we're screaming profanaty at each other, waking me up the second day.
Hotel Condidtion-Awful
The hotel was dirty you had to enter my builing thru a gift shop, you could smell the resturant atached and their dumpsters too.
The third morning of my stay I was awokin by the fire department responding to the other building being on fire.
Room Cleanliness-Poor
The oder was bad the cabnets we're failing off the walls and the windows we're covered in dirt which only blocked my veiw of the neon lights from the steakhouse attached to the hotels back side
Room Comfort-Poor
The beds we're hard and the sheets scratchy and the dirty rooms made it hard to get cofortable.
If you stay here sleep with your cloths on and your luggage in your car.
The absolute worst hotel i've ever stayed in and i spend over 2 months a year in hotels.
3 of their photos on the Hotels site don't match the hotel AT ALL. (the lobby shot and two pool shots)
