Relaxing week in Tukey after our summer Exams

Stayed here for a Week long Holiday after our university exams, nice place good food, it was an all inclusive resort, with fresh salads and cooked breakfast every morning, dinner ranged from barbe-qued fish to roast meats. organised trips down to the beach everyday and trips to the largets market in Fethiye. Also organised trips and tours around Kayakoyu 'the Ghost Town' altogether a fun relaxing trip cheaply organised by Thomas Cook.

The least Turkish of places (in Turkey)

... of rain out of the canvas coverings some of the stalls.. When the rain lightened we made a break for the main road and caught a dolmus back to our hostel before it started to pour down again... It rained for most of the night and morning and because we were inbetween the harbour and the base of a mountain the sound of the thunder echoed brilliantly around us, long after the lightening had flashed...
The poor weather ...

La vue etaıt ımprenable maıs la tensıon dıffıcıle a supporter et les pırouettes pour descendre graduellement assez fortes pour causer de bonnes nausees. Quelle experıence folle ... a ne ...

"No rain in Fethiye, Only Sun! Never rain!"

... must not have been named for the color of the island (it was green) but for the color of your skin once you get there! We had a great time, even though we were sunburned by the time we got home.
That night we had a relaxing dinner at Pasha Kepab, supposedly the best Kebabs around. They were pretty damn good.
Tomorrow, we leaved for Rhodes and then Santorini! Turkey (and the Turkish Lira) has been good to us.

Strange how everything seems so familiar!

Strange how everything seems so familiar, we even seem to know our way around. Oh now we understand we were here 61 days ago. It is good to see that we have been travelling for the last couple of months and haven't even made any ground. We have just been doing a big circle.

We made our way to the city center, dropped off our bags and went straight away to find out the ferries to Rhodes. Unfortunately there are no ferries on Sunday, the next ...

Icecream in the Bloody Desert

... for Aussies, Kiwis, Brits and Turks at this stage as there was a massive bloody war here during World War 1. Had read up a bit about it before hand so was interesting to see. Tens of thousands of graves of fellahs who died in the most horrible ways, their trenches were only a roads width apart so between the fighting they used to throw messages and food to each other so that by the end there was no real anamosity between them, just young lads doing their duty. Lots of ...

Butterfly Vally! Wooo!

I'm writıng this after wards as usual! Butterfly Valley is a tiny little, yes,you guessed it, valley, near Fetiye, the only way to get there is on a lıttle boat with a cool old turkısh gut with a hanky on hıs head who gave us chocolate! it's really isolated and possibly the most chilled out and peaceful places on earth, everythıng moves very ...

Gület trip on Turkish Mediterranean coast

... her beauty was only skin-deep - looks good, but needs a few repairs). The food was much better than we expected, and the company was also better than we expected. After some of the "unusual" people on the Dragoman trip, it was good to be with a good bunch of "normal" people. Exchange email addresses with some of the passengers, then DP goes ashore with our cryptic vouchers. We've paid for two nights accommodation in Fethiye, at the Ata ...

Saklikent Gorge

... the deeper pools along the way. The rocks had been worn smooth by the rushing water over the years making it more of a challenge. The stream was usually just a foot or two deep so you just needed to avoid stepping in a hole or stepping on a loose rock. My watershoes were essential. After we had hiked awhile the route got steeper and more challenging. I had already had a few wobbles were the bottom of my backpack got wet (some money there ...

Demre, Fethiye

... in it (I don't trust anyone as far as I can throw 'em). Demre doesn't have much to offer tourists. It has some beaches, sure. Every coastal town in Southern Turkey does. But one unique thing it does have is the Church of St. Nicholas, aka Santa Claus. Demre turned out to be the most crowded place I would visit on my vacation. I hadn't seen a Greek person the whole time I had been in Turkey, but the area around the church of St. Nicholas was filled to bursting with ...
