... and the occasional cow blocking the road. But the views were absolutely spectacular. Half a dozen glaciers, snow-capped peaks, rivers running through the bottom of the gorge, and great roads on the lower part of the route. Home for the next couple of days is the Auberge Edelweiss in La Grave (population 250). Robin (Scotland), his wife (Belgium), and their crew (Holland, Portugal, France) love to host ...

As we were climbing up the last portion of the Col De Mollard there were quite a few fans on the side of the road. Everyone is super friendly and cheer you on. They also do a double take as they see my huge bike frame and a big German climbing the mountain:)

Raymond said that his new career goal is to become a shepherd in France. By now I was a little tired but not too bad overall. As we refueled at the van I glanced to my right and just realized why this climb is so famous. Up a steep ramp of a road you could see cyclist dotted along the ...

... a little tricky.

We finally made it back to the hotel finishing the ride at
102km (63 miles). Our immediate focus, cool off! We threw on our swim suites
and walked down to the river. Here we took an Alps ice bath by sitting waist
deep in the water for a good 5 minutes. It was very cold but hopefully it will
help with recovery tomorrow.

After a big dinner it was back to the room to relax a bit
and get to bed. Tomorrow is ...
