    ... down to their back of the property....a huge frozen fiord...Al and I got to pilot a sled each with 2 kids in each.... The owner drove a snowmobile ahead to show the way but we basically followed the shore around....it was so cold though...my fingers and toes were burning with cold....and my face warmer had frozen to the snot from my nose....yes it was cold...but I had to keep reminding myself when am I ever going to ...

    ... on the walls and ceilings, truly a special place. The paintings show the Creation, through the Old Testament to the suffering of Christ.     Domna's house - lunch at Vartilus border crossing - Korkana Husky Farm 41km

    The Husky Farm is a nice sauna spot for farewell. Huskys are calmer than expected. In particuliar the last day showed me I couldn't navigate such sik tour on my own. In part we crossed forest without a trail. It became cold that day and the old snow went ruthlessly sharp. I collected quite some blue marks that day.

    ... is one of the many shared between Russia and Finland. Tragedy is that the village experienced diminuation too because the border runs exactly through the lake's island that constitutes the Kulvajärvi village's cemetary. Ancestors can only be visisted on special permission. Some cannot be approached.

    There is also a beautiful christian orthodox church of Kulvajärvi . Community is deteriorating due to rural exodus.

    A buffer between the political border of the EU to Russia is called the border zone, varying 2 to 20 km. The Russian buffer is said to be 40 km in average except for some larger villages.
