What is is is quite simple – heat pine to high temperatures in a closed, oxygen poor environment and under pressure and it yields lots of black tar and charcoal. Simple.     Whilst indeed there was very little wind for most of the night, there was still sufficient to move the boat somewhat, which in turn moved the chain, the noise of which transmitted itself into our cabin, resulting in a disturbed night. I knew that we weren't drifting, indeed I’d set the anchor alarm on the GPS (the GPS sounds if you move outside a given tolerance limit, which I’d set to 40m) but I doubt if there’s a sailor on this planet ...

    Bit tardy on updates but Internet is bust here so using phone.     Left Helsinki in bright sunshine. Arrived in next place and guess what; it's rained solid. Unit is very nice and the location is lovely. Next to a lake. Lots of young fit people around as the place is also a sports institute. We're a little out of place. Forgot to mention Yvonne bought yet another scarf ...
