... has been living in Helsinki for years. Our night ferry to St. Petersburg, Russia leaves Saturday night and we're excited about that too. We have a 72 hour visa free excursion there. The visa process in Russia is painful and expensive. The cost of our ferry there and back is the same as a visa cost and it's much easier. The downside is that we only get 72 hours in the country but that's better than not seeing St. Petersburg.

Our bus back to Helsinki was due to leave at 5, so we grabbed our bags and got a taxi back to the bus stop. Turku is beautiful and I'm glad I made it there. I'm quite sad that this trip is very nearly over. But it's been a lot of fun.
This morning we took forever to get out of the hotel. When I woke John told me he had trouble booking the place on Air BnB. Apparently Air BnB randomly choose people that need to "verify" their online and offline self. I hadn't needed to go through the offline self for the last place we stayed at so I wasn't aware. They want you to scan or photograph your government issued ID and upload it for them. Also they want a lot of other ...
Ok. Four more days and I'll be heading out the front door and to the airport. Woohoo!
And look what we've got planned for us:
Day 1: Introduction to Villa Lante and Institutum Romanum Finlandiae (our host for the course) plus an evening reception
Day 2-4: Ancient and medieval Rome (Forum Romanum, Palatium, Capitolium, Pantheon, Aventinus, Trastevere etc.)
Day 5: Early Christian Rome and medieval Rome (walk around the city)
Day 6-7: ...
... bottle of hard clear spirit was pretty much the standard accessory to each of the examples that we walked past. Some of them tried a bit of a hello, but most just sat on the ground spaced out of their head. As we continued down the road there was more and more evidence that these Finnish just love drinking, one man was so fond of drinking that he must have sold his shirt for the beer he was carrying and there was no other excuse for him to be shirtless and therefore ...
