My first day Beijing was eventful mostly because of the wonderful man in Wuhan who got us to our flight on time by driving like a mad man after hours of waiting for a cab. Because of the holiday, he also shared wonderful moon cakes with us. The hotel was beautiful and cozy. If it is in your budget I highly reccomend the hotel. It does not have the …

Jing, our guide, was answering my questions in the car about Chinese characters, explaining that each character is a word or concept. She drew a character on her note pad. This for example, she says, looks like a man walking with his head bowed forward, right? Uh, sure. So, that character means "entry" because men bow their head when they step over …

We sat at a bar enjoying the evening and the activity. I also enjoyed my Tsingtao beer; Linda, not so much her wine. It was Almaden—served from a box. We ate at …

This hotel was pricey but very comfortable in a beautiful neighborhood with helpful staff. I didn't stay long but it was an excellent stay all the same.
