... Mountains is part of the larger Sudetes range. Its highest peak is Sniezka which stands on the border between the Poland and Czech Republic - at a height of 1602 meters above sea level. The mountains are wonderful for trekking and ski. Large areas of the mountains are preserved as National Park.

al the former eastern bloc countries make for good travel,, but the one that i return to is the czech republic,, mainly to the north [north bohemia],liberec,harrochov,cesky raj, but a trip or two to moravia is also worth taking,,. during the communist times it was an eye opener, now also as the people wish for the return of those times,they knew where their bread was coming from, and the upgrades fron old skoda to super fast motorcars,, ah they stilll are crazy on the roads

9/10/07 Day 71 Today we travelled into the Czech Republic to a town called Trutnov just across the boarder near the alps. it's a cold day but the roads were gratefully uneventful and we arrive in the afternoon. Having no currency we headed off to find a bank and the shops, we get out 2000 Zakona and only get 2 notes, the problem is we have no idea what the exchange is, and can only guess. ... brisk, enlivening hikes up to Jested Tower, which is a 94 metre-tall tower used to transmit television signal built on the top of Jested Mountain overlooking Liberec. In the winter the area is used for skiing and as we gazed about from the top you could distinguish the skiing slopes. It was superb standing at high elevation again viewing the panorama! I have missed my mountain hikes overlooking the earth from above!

... across the slope, only to promptly take out this child - who'd been flying straight down the mountain on his carvers - his mother wasn't amused, and Huw quietly made his way back onto the nursery slopes to finish his holiday!!!! I have to say, looking up at the ski jumps, it was incredible to think that people actually hurl themselves off - I can only liken it to flying off a skyscraper - I know Huw is itching to try it - I must up his insurance!
