Last Full Day in Andorra

Today was my last full day in Andorra. There wasn't a huge amount to do. It wasn't snowing, but the wind was so fierce that it seemed like a sand storm made out of snow. I had a great time watching a group of cows grazing in snow up to their stomachs. Other than that I had a walk around town and spent about an hour at a ...

The Two Faces of Andorra

... that I am.

After I met up with my host and had some lunch, I decided to go for a walk and take some pictures. Andorra is certainly a beautiful place. The valleys are small enough that you can see all the details in the hills, and this makes for great scenery. It also makes for great walking, as you don't have to go too far before you are at the top of a huge hill and have a great view all around you.

The city has a good bit of old ...

Change of Plans?

Found out today that the 90 day tourist visa that I thought we were granted for each country is actually for the combined Senchgen countries. Since we'll be at least 60 days in France alone, it means we won't be doing the France, Italy, Greece and then Turkey route we had planned on in the length of time we'd ...

Tales from the Pit

... tasting it, the flavour was fresh like a cucumber but with the texture of cooked squash. Gross! Hence the dubbing “Puke-in’. Needless to say I didn’t cook it up for dinner that night!

Workin’ 9 to 5

One of the main projects going on at the house is the building of an energy efficient wood stove. The man who’s doing this work is absolutely hilarious! He comes over for a few hours whenever he feels ...

Brain Food

... refrigeration for the meat. With wind-chill, that was absolutely frigid for 45 minutes! And with the winding mountain roads, the weight of the meat kept shifting into me with the occasional trotter popping out from under the covering.

Watching Austin process the carcase into usable joints of meat was truly a work of art. His knife flew, knowing exactly where to cut and slicing with one quick motion. Any small ...

... than anything else. However, for a first time climber this is often the most difficult. The death grip mush come off the rock and weight comes off your feet. Floating on air! You push aside thoughts of whether or not the rope will hold and begin to descend.

Actually, I found the job of belaying much more difficult than that of climbing. Not only ******* the arms hauling the rope around and holding it securely, was the knowledge that ...

... called ‘Patou’ are raised with a herd (Pyrenees mountain dogs). As a result they will guard and defend their animals from any predator they may face - including humans. If you happen to wander in range they will bark furiously and give you many warnings to get away. If you don’t heed the warnings - you’re at your own risk with a fierce dog that comes up to your ...

Perfectly positioned, the guide turns on a single light and we’re blinded with a whole wall full of images! Not just simple line drawing either - they are quite detailed. Many make use of the natural contours of the rock and the shadows that it creates to add life and depth to the images. A truly remarkable sight as image after ...

The kids arrived the day after I did - dropped off by their parents dragging out suitcases double thier own size from all ranges of bmws and 4x4s. As well as our English classes we´ve been assigned another activity class to take - I have been given ´Save the Planet´ which should be interesting with ...
