Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam sigurdSaigon (as those in the south still know it) the city of the moped, its funny to see cars and trucks get swallowed up by them. After not seeing the canadian girls since halong, which is surprising as we seemed to have seen everyone else along the way. We bumped into them as we were looking for somewhere to eat, which was a nice surprise to catch up and found they are going to the same new years party as us which is cool.

He says he just wants to play this one last hand. The cards are dealt, $120,000 in chips and $80,000 USD cash sitting in the dealers briefcase lay before us. The chinese guy gets a ten and nine (I know cause of the hand signals) and I get a 9 and 4. The next card flashed to me is a seven, so I grab it and have technically won, cause the Chinese guy is playing banker and by the rules has to sit on 17 and above. Yay me.

I didn't manage it unfortunately....I went down the first set of steps to initally get you underground, and thought, aah this isn't so bad, but then there was another set of small steps which led you to the actual tunnel part. I took one look at the guy infront of me squeezing his way down them and felt the panic surge in my ...

... really wasn’t anything else to do at that point and no time for any more sightseeing. We had coffee at a place near the Opera House, got rained on, bought a scarf, and ate a delicious set lunch at a restaurant before walking back to the hotel to collect our bags and head for the airport.
Our first flight was on time, lasting approximately 3 hours. We touched down in Taipei and, just like on the way in, immediately made our way to the airport ...
... awful ways to be harmed. The tour guide was eager to show all the ingenuity they used. Hmmm! He was definitely a fan of the Viet Cong. Half way through the tour they have a shooting range where for about a pound a bullet you can fire all sorts of automatic rifles! AK47's, M16, M60 and others, Crazy! We didn't try but we could see that it was a properly set up firing range and the guns were apparently bolted down to the bench so no one could do anything stupid. Finally to ...
Ho Chi Minh, Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam feeandpete... As such, he had some places he wanted to revisit, so we really had to cram everything in to get it all done in the little less than three weeks they had. They were flying into Ho Chi Minh City, so Konrad and I planned to fly down and meet them there a few days after we finished work at Apollo.
We had been up late on Tuesday night, enjoying one last evening with friends at the pub quiz (which I ran that night - the theme was colors, for those of you who ...

... to me, especially on buses, trains and planes!] The ‘orchestra’ sat at either side of a big tank of water with a pagoda-style backdrop. They played along and chanted/occasionally sang in Vietnamese whilst the puppets splashed about. The rather large puppets were attached to big sticks under the water which the puppeteers controlled from behind a reed curtain. They were very talented – for the most part you couldn’t see any of the mechanics behind it. The ...
