Hello Today we cycled 110k from Kampot to Sihanoukville with some baby hill at the end. Sorry not pict the USB port doesn't seem to work in this Internet place. Lucky it was not to hot so cycling was fairly easy apart from a sore bottom I am fine. Tonight we had dinner at a restaurant of friends of our tour guide most of us had a coconut curry in a real coconut. I had of course the vegetable version very yummy. So that is is for tonight. Hello Today we had a relaxing day after breakfast we went on a boats trip it was a sunny day when we started. The first stop was in front of an island where we swam and snorkeled very nice, clean and warm water. After that we to another island with a nice and sandy beach we swam again and our guide was preparing the lunch, he had his kitchen right on the beach and after one hour we got some rice and for the vegi fried tofu, salad and bananas and lychee for dessert. After that I had a sleep on...

On the Beach in Cambodia

After hearing about the white sands and beachfront restaurants in Sihanoukville, I decided to take a couple of days there. Tuesday morning I boarded a 7:00 bus to Phnom Penh arriving at 1:00. Time for a plate of french frries and a coke (just sounded good) then changed to another bus south. At 7:00 pm I arrived in the bus station and was on my way to the Orchidee Hotel on the main road just two blocks from the beach. The hotel was quite nice. They were out of the 15$ rooms so I had to take a ...

Sihanouville

Everybody who we spoke to asked us if we visiting Sihanouville on our way through cambodia. We were told it was like an island in thailand but better, so we thought we would take a look for ourselves.
Its a 4 hour drive west from phnom penn. As soon as we came into town it seemed like a nice place to stay. We got settled into a guest house which looked over station hill and victory beech.
After a night out around our guesthouse we found that we were in the ceedy part of the town with di...

The Beach

It's been a while since my last entry. Sorry about the delay but frankly, I really haven't been doing much that I thought would be of interest While in Phuket I reacquainted myself with some friends that I had met on trips to other parts of Southeast Asia. I met Noel and Nuk in Luang Probang Laos last year. At the time Noel invited me to visit him in Phuket when he is there. He is an Irishman who spends about half the year in Phuket and the other in his homeland. Nuk, who is his constant comp...

Sihanoukville-age of the Damned

... a-doodle-doing wakes you every morning and they carry on for a good two hours. But this is a small complaint considering the accommodation was only 85p a night and a bottle of whisky 85 pence also. You could live here like a king for next to nothing. The contrast we had when crossing the border over to Cambodia and our first stop Phnom Penh was stark. Phnom Penh is not unlike Bankok in its garish tourism. There were only really two plus points to the place. First is the ...

... imitation but couldn't tell you the difference). Cambodian New Year involves most Cambodians coming down to the beach, or heading back home to see family, and a lot of water bombs and talcum powder. Yeah not too sure about that either. All I know is that I woke up the next morning soaking wet and covered in talcum powder! Good times. One side of Serendipity beach was mainly Cambodians (who bought and let off small firework sticks that have about 15-20 multicoloured small flares ...

Sandy Beaches in south Cambodia

... Ream National Park, which was rustic and beautiful, tropical and green with sandy beaches, and reserves full of jelly fish! We took a motor boat ride to the island in the centre of the park, and we trekked through the jungle there. The noises were scary and unusual, and the smell of greenery and damp was gorgeous. After out trek we had a lunch of freshly caught Barracuda and salad, but to get to the lunch we had to walk across a ...
