Dubai: It's Not a Dry Heat

A travel blog entry by teacherintl

... They smile at me anyway. Or it could be a grimace.

So you can't eat. Anything. All day. Or drink--even sips of water. And it is 110 degrees. So we are thinking about how that's going to work out. BUT at about 7:00 when the sun goes down, there are these great Iftars (feasts) buffets to break the fast. One thing that was really beautiful was hearing the call to prayer from our hotel. It is an awe-inspiring sound. Which is good because ...

... time and learned from our guide, who is an expat who grew up in Dubai, about the Emirate leadership. He explained that there are seven Emirates and the two most notable and significant are Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa, sits in Abu Dhabi and the vice president, Sheikh Mohammed, looks after Dubai. A travel blog entry by brenton-alan

... I have lunch at Dubai Creek sitting on the rivers edge in a Turkish restaurant. The food was great and the iced coffee was even better. So calm and peaceful watching the river traffic and the Abra boats, which I took a ride on for a whole 30 cents.

Rest of the day is spent walking around Dubai Creek before heading back to pack for the flight home, which is rather depressing.

Pictures were taken with the phone, now that i dont have a working camera.
