After a peaceful night and watching the sun go down on the midnight sun beach it was just a short drive today, just 200km to get to the Swedish coast. En route we visited Sweden's only working Linen Mill at Vaxbo where amazingly having pulled a cord. a sliding glass sound proofed door opened and we were allowed to follow the blue painted line on the floor of the mill, walking right next to working looms. Some of these dated back to the 1920's and had ...

... Slowing slightly to 70Kmh, we carried on for about 1 Km, when we came across a gaggle of Rein Deer with their very young off spring, in addition, about another 20Km we came across a small herd crossing the road - these were the horny locals, well actually they were antler locals but it doesn't have the same ring.

... reassess our engine’s diesel consumption, which is just under 3 litres an hour.

Once tied up and secure, we could sit and enjoy the sun, as the clouds had disappeared. This was an inspired choice of harbour, lovely & quiet, cheap (130SEK/night) and with the town of Söderhamn with a Systembolaget a short bus ride away. Dinner consisted of hot –smoked salmon, prawn mayonnaise salad and green salad, how healthy is ...

    Chasing the Midnight Sun!

I did not expect Sweden to be this green! As we drove north, the spruces, firs, birches, waved us along and the road was fringed with beautiful wild lupins! We tried to take as little of the highway as possible, preferring the smaller roads along the coast which showed us so much more!

Our first stop was a short visit to the Uppsala cathedral and castle and on we went to Gävle, which is supposed to be a pretty town and one ...
