... camp at a place on the river and go back when the shop was open. We put the tents up and headed back the5km into town. I purchased the inner and we found the supermarket for food for dinner-- this included strawberries bought from a farm stall. Lilli cooked up mushrooms and eggs and onion for us both in a tiny frying pan. We had this with a healthy salad. The toilet block is about 400m away, so involves a bike ride to get there. The rain stopped in time to pack up the wet tent it was a cold morning with a bitter east wind. We made our way back to the canal and seeing a sign for ...

At last we got the chance to spend more than a couple of days in Maastricht! My cousin Annelies and her husband Jules live there and it's a wonderful city full of history and culture. We really enjoyed the hospitality of our hosts and Jen and Matt were able to visit for my birthday. Sharan and Peter Burrow were only an hour away in Brussels so we got to spend a weekend with them as well as cousins Kees and Ans who live in the rural town of Berlicum and Sanne and Dan in Zierikzee ...

It was a great pleasure to see our friends Pierre and Linda again! They treated us to a fabulous stay at a 12th century abbey while we're there in Heerlen. . It's in the country side, so peaceful, and the grounds are so lovely. Here is a picture of where we take ...
