... 15 miles from Bodrum, it has very few guests which is perfect for feeling as though you have the place to yourself. The private beach was lined with chairs and grass tiki huts, but only four other people were at the beach. There’s only one gas station on the island, half way from Mandraki to Pali. The guy there also checks oil and tires. Very professional. Manage to speed up to 30 km/h and feel very proud of myself.
A brief stop in Nikia. A picturestque village hanging on the mountain side. Don’t find the volcano museum but find the church and light a candle. No people, except for two tourists.

... eruption of the volcano was 1888 but something might have been going on also during the 1933 eartquake. I leave the boiling kettle quickly to get back to the wind.
At the rim of the crater two hippies have a cafe and sell photos. The young lady says that she’s local and the best time for taking pictures is winter. Most people buy the crater panorama. I take waterdrops after storm. Just because she sees her home as beeing beautiful.
