Finally after 2 days of cycling I feel that we're getting to the Turkey I've been wanting to see. Away from the crowds and the destinations listed in the travel guides. This is what I'm looking for. Sites are nice to see, but I would like to see beyond them. No more facade. it may not look as glamorous on the surface, but I'm not looking for glitz.

... for the day, or even by the hour, but not necessarily to sleep, if you catch my drift. We tried a couple of seriously seedy hotels that wanted to charge us premium nooky rate (but would that guarantee premium nooky?), but eventually found a pleasant wee hotel that was happy to charge us half the night rate. Subsequently we slept sweet dreams till time to leave for our ferry.

This was just as well because the, unexpectedly long, 2 mile walk to the ferry ...

Es war durchweg sonniges und warmes Wetter, aber es ist bereits Herbst. Wie mag es im Sommer, bei Klimawandel werden - lässt es sich dann noch unter einem Sonnenschirm aushalten? Ansonsten bleiben dann die Touristen weg, denn Pools und Imbissbuden stehen dann weiter im Norden.

Aber vielleicht ist das weder ein Verlust, noch interessiert es die eigentlichen Bewohner der Insel.

... durch das lose Geröll den Fußmarsch lohnen? Ich werde es heute nicht erfahren, sondern genieße auf halbem Wege, den fast Menschenleeren Strand mit kristallklarem Wasser ohne Seegrashaufen. Es gibt zwar keinen Sand, sondern mit Kieseln durchsetztes dunkelgraues Granulat, aber darauf liegt es sich genauso gut.
Das Wasser ist angenehm temperiert und es gibt keine kostenpflichtigen Schirme und Sonnenliegen.

Die Bootsfahrt dau**t jeweils etwas üb** ein** Stunde und ist bei dem sonnigwarmen Wett** angenehm.

Am Abend, wied** in Kos Stadt gibt es dann noch h**vorragendes griechisches Essen in d** Tav**na Alexandros hint** d** Kirche am Museumsplatz. Die griechische Platte ist günstig, und d** rote Hauswein schmeckt fast wie Kirschsaft. Ein rund** Ausklang des Tages.

Das neue Zimmer ist zwar nicht der Hit, aber eine deutliche Steigerung, der Urlaub kann beginnen!

What a wonderful lunch!

Back in Bodrum to experience a little bit of night life. While walking the streets of the city, I could hear dance music in the distance. I looked in the direction and saw flickering lights as well. This was a great outdoor night club called Halikarnas based on the ancient mausoleum Halicarnasos. Music was loud and on stage a Turkish male belly dancer.

What a nice day to spend in Bodrum Turkey.

... if we would help him repair his boat for the rest of the day. we were not into manual labor, and politely declined, but now we kind of regret it. We walked around and saw all of the beautiful shops and strolled along the beach. For dinner we went back to Gümbel Bay and had 1 Lira Döner Kebabs. İn case you are curious, 1 Lira is approximately .60 cents and a Döner Kebab is a giant sandwich similar to a Gyro. Looks like we can eat in Turkey!
