This is an absolutely stunning property in the diplomatic area of the city, with amazing service. There is a bit of a revolution going on at the moment in this country, and there are hardly any other guests. I'm relishing the royal treatment! Could not be happier with this choice, especially since it is walking distance to Maidan Square and the Opera House. My only thought, sitting here writing this late at night in my room, is that the room could use a few more lamps. But that is a very minor thing overall.

I did enjoy a 3 nights twin/double accommodation with my wife experiencing the unique Kiev atmosphere and the luxury Opera hotel lodging. We booked a Kiev city break with panorama-tours.eu, we were transferred from the airport and back, we are definitely very happy with all our stay at Opera hotel and the Kiev city break in general. We would like to greatly recommend getting to Kiev enjoying Kiev city break packages - lots to do and see

Strange. I expect to be cramped on the flight to Frankfurt, and then to have an empty plane from there to Kiev. It is just the opposite! I am able to stretch out across three empty seats in a 777 going to Frankfurt (United flight about 2/3 full), and then there is barely any space on the Lufthansa flight to Kiev (aboard an A321). Maybe there's a …

In December 2013 when we started the adoption process, I had been looking at pictures of children on a website that was promoting adoption to Ukrainians. I knew that some of the children might not even be available for international adoption. I had located a few sisters, but there were two girls, 10 and 14 years old whose bright eyes and smiles really drew me. I printed their information out and carried it with me to our adoption authority meeting ...

... 10mins to descend on an escalator – and I thought 3mins on the St Petersburg metro was a long time (that seems ages ago now!). The large statue I’d seen arriving yesterday morning is, in actual fact, the Mother Homeland Statue and that’s where I’m off to investigate. Walking past all the drinks, nibbles and souvenir stalls you realise how imposing it really is. At over 100m tall it’s bigger than the Statue of Liberty and Christ ...

... older than us and she was full of juice. The only problem with this tour is that we did not have the headsets and it was hard to hear. I think that one of the reasons that they don't use them is that people leave the tour when they are ready and that would mean that the guide would be stuck carrying the headphones. Here is a map of the route that we walked. I made it just so that you could see where we walked. ...
