This is an absolutely stunning property in the diplomatic area of the city, with amazing service. There is a bit of a revolution going on at the moment in this country, and there are hardly any other guests. I'm relishing the royal treatment! Could not be happier with this choice, especially since it is walking distance to Maidan Square and the Opera House. My only thought, sitting here writing this late at night in my room, is that the room could use a few more lamps. But that is a very minor thing overall.

I did enjoy a 3 nights twin/double accommodation with my wife experiencing the unique Kiev atmosphere and the luxury Opera hotel lodging. We booked a Kiev city break with panorama-tours.eu, we were transferred from the airport and back, we are definitely very happy with all our stay at Opera hotel and the Kiev city break in general. We would like to greatly recommend getting to Kiev enjoying Kiev city break packages - lots to do and see

... wear. The men under 40 are in track suits or suits made out of a shiny, greasy material. Over 40's are very traditional with big over coats with a trilby and a pipe. I was busy being left shocked at the choice of heel for a Sunday walk stroll (atleast 6 inches) on every woman over 21, a 10 year old with fake nails and a pram with a personalised number plate of it's name on the front when I got the shock of my life. All of a sudden a booming voice was shouting at me and ...

... geometric and floral designs. You could pick up some regional difference in the colours and designs. I was drawn to the floral garlands with colourful ribbons worn by the women on their heads. I was fairly young when I saw a Ukrainian folk show in Marrickville Town Hall and apart from the fact that that part of Sydney had trolley buses (a boy thing) I clearly remembered the long ribbons and colourful garlands. Whatever the troubles were ...

... in Rio. I love these Soviet statues and monuments – they’re solid and muscular. There’s patriotic music playing through the loudspeakers (installed every 20m or so as you walk along the promenade) which gives a sense of occasion. The statue is a woman with arms stretched up with a shield in one hand and a sword in the other.

The Patriotic War museum is housed in the statue’s pedestal and I pay the required fees by tapping ...

In a relatively short period of time, we walked from the hotel to the Golden Gate, where we turned right to walk past the Opera House and as far as the University, where we turned again to walk down Taras Schvenko to the main drag and then all the way to Independence Square where the tour ended. ...

Not far from the monastery, lies the Museum of Great Patriotic War. There are painted battle tanks, and other artillery and monuments surrounding the area. One of the monuments that stands out is the Mother Motherland monument, shining brightly as it reflects the beams from the sun. It is made of titanium, and measures 102 m (203 ft).

I ended my day at the Independence Square. This ...
