... to visit. I think it was just more difficult travelling through these countries, particularly with the kids. And, of course, the story of our year wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the people we met up with along the way. Thanks to everyone who shared their homes with us during the year. You don’t know how much it means to see friendly, familiar faces when you are so far away from home.
As for regrets in taking the trip ...

Edit: While I have spent the day lounging and doing nothing….except noticing that my new camera IS ****ING BROKEN! It is a used camera and luckily it’s under warranty but come the **** on. I have no idea what is wrong with it but this piece fell out and it’s being weird. It doesn’t really effect me ...
... phenomenon that I've never seen, in fact, maybe it was aliens and we've been the only people in the world to see it. We saw a halo around the sun. At first we thought it was some sort of refraction trick from our shades, but it could still be seen with the naked eye and through my camera. By the time we'd reached the bloke fishing at the bottom of the creek and started heading back it was gone.
Maynooth, Ontario, Canada paulleck1975Drive up was great. Get there. Wait for the switch over to afternoon ski time at 1230. Tighten the boots. Click into the skis. Push off towards the chairlift... the binding broke off one ski!! Bummer! A long summer must have been tiring on those poor old skis ...
Calabogie, Ontario, Canada lollyTwo hours West of Montreal is the capital of Canada - Ottawa. I figure I'm so close I might as well check it out. We have formed a nice close bunch of amigos in Montreal, so together, with a Canadian, an American and 2 Swedish, I'm taking an overpriced Greyhound bus to Ottawa. See you there. Coming soon... meanwhile,, check the next entries.
Ottawa, Canada muzz_travelling... in the rest of Canada, the thought of putting it on as I sit here in 35˚c makes me feel faint, but it will no doubt come in handy in Canberra! Thanks guys! In the morning Carl arrived for the continuation of the road trip to North Bay, and after the initial drama of confusing the dog's medicine with Ken's, there were heartfelt goodbyes all round. A big thankyou to all the Fountains for having us - we had an outrageously good time, hope to see you all soon!
Orillia, Ontario, Canada alicecrabtree... dams and lodges. On the way to the second walking trail we spotted our first moose, right next to the road, a male, with just the stubs of his antlers growing. We got out an took photos. The moose then ran across the road by us and was narrowly missed by a big rig truck coming the other way! We toured the visitor centre, which had displays of the wildlife in the park. Moose, Whitetail deer, Black Bears and Wolves ...
Maynooth, Ontario, Canada danandlucy... to wear the tank top and shorts I optimistically packed. Sandy heads off to work and the fellows get parts and settle into some serious bike work while I shower and do laundry, then bask in the sun reading, writing my journal, and knocking back several glasses of Sandy's very tasty homemade cranberry wine. When Sandy gets home again we have a yummy dinner of hamburgers, hot dogs, cole slaw and excellent potato salad. (I am very fussy about ...
