... big night out had him renamed to Rapunzel and only helped to cement the friendship, but did nothing to help relations with the resident lady of the house...Sabine. That lady had it in for me from the day I got there and quickly had me looking every which way for alternative living arrangements. Only unfortunately that is not all that easy in the UAE, as are pretty much most things you might have to or want to do. The salvation came with Rapunzel's replacement...Patrick ...
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates janos... it just seemed a little better than Dubai. The amount of wealth is also quite obvious ere as we saw giant yachts and cars worth more than most people could make in 5 years just about everywhere we went. Before our dinner meeting, we headed to the Emirates palace - the uber-decked out hotel where Ferrari's endlessly drive through the gate and the hotel pickup car is ...
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates trent... his job!.....yeah we showed him. Once inside the place was empty.....so where was everybody? Certainly not out and about... We dined in the Lebanese restaurant on mixed hot and cold mezza...before sharing a mixed grill....and a bottle of expensive wine each...T did well considering her's was a dessert wine....far to sweet! After a day in the sun, a bottle of wine, to much food...it was time for bed. After a great sleep and ...
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates raniroo... outside, Ray said to Candy, "You'll probably never hear this again from me, but I really don't want to leave this jewelry store." We only had enough time in Abu Dhabi to be confused by the many odd combinations in the city. It seems like much of the city's population is made up of guest workers from places like India, Pakistan, the Philippines, etc. The people who appeared to be citizens typically wore robes and head coverings (the men white; the ...
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates candyandray... There was art in there! We went to see, too quickly, the Picasso exhibition, a very very nice one, as numerous pieces from Musee National Picasso were displayed. I'll stop there that quick account of the short weekend, but it was so, so good to see Mathilde and Steve, and I fell in love with Louise and Nina (and reciprocally I think), and their friends were all good people, agreable and interesting, it was a real refreshment. Will be there again within a few weeks, for sure!
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates peacefrog... my-body bald middle aged man who was fidgeting as he smoked and read his book. Kept looking over at us and every time he did I said "what an ****" to myself in my mind. The water was nice and cool, the mango juice reshly squeezed, and the sun bright, I was even ok with the Robbie Williams that was being played. Oh - and the company (immediate company that is) was exquisite. I couldnīt care less that the "club" wasnīt ...
Abu dhabi, United Arab Emirates nomadic... it's loud enough to wake you up from the deepest of sleeps. That's what happened this morning. I must have been so exhausted the other night that I never even heard it, but this morning I was stirred immediately. I recorded the last part of the prayer and attached it to my photos. I have no idea what he's saying and it's absolutely dark due to the time of day - 5 a.m.! After checking the Atlanta Journal ...
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates hlminer... every day she would do something cultural, and a different mall. the outcome was a great Holiday, and a promise to return. After all she only saw 5 malls, and realized that there was so much more to Dubai then shops. Here are some photos to wet the appetite of all....
Dubaai, United Arab Emirates nicci... I said no gloves, well I should have bought some because my hands were freezing and covered in ice as was my face and the rest of my body. After my second attempt I basically gave up and thought to myself "I should have gotten lessons" and decided to head inside. But then I realized that I sounded exactly like Andrea did her first time on the snow and I had told her to suck it up and learn!!! So I decided if I could tell Andrea that then I better live up to my own word and suck ...
Dubai, United Arab Emirates romero... looking right over the water and had plenty to do. There is also this really famous hotel located in Abu Dhabi, the name escapes me at the moment, but it is something like the Palace Hotel. And the name suits the building, it is massive and amazingly designed. Another interesting thing about Abu Dhabi was how incredibly cheap the taxis are there. A ride that would cost you $8 in Dubai, was less then $2 there. All in all, the city is a really good deal, and ...
