Later in the morning we travelled through Moravia with more farmland and then onto the hill country and the Beskyd Mountains which are part of the Carpathian Mountain Range, and more specifically to Wallachia in the SE corner of Moravia. This area is strongly independent with their own distinct music, costumes, flag and even their own passports. We passed by Brno on the highway, the 2nd ...

... again 5kms before Cadca, with no stopping until nightfall. I could have stopped in Cadca and spent the night there but I had to make more progress so I took the road leading to the polish border, and after another 15kms, in the town of Skalite, around 19:30, in the rain, started looking for a pension. ... with Bicycle Way signs. Then we entered Cesky Tesin, the last Czech town before Poland. Actually it's part of a twin city, Cesky Tesin on one side of the river and the Polish Cieszyn on the other. We walked our bikes over the bridge, no passport check required and we were in Poland! Then turned right, headed up to the town square (GPS directive) and entered this big, quite speccy looking town square. We were both dying for a cold drink, headed for a cafe dreaming of a large ...

... around many bends in tiny streets to our Hotel Roubenka. It's a quaint little hotel in a quiet suburban street and there was a wedding party going on inside. There is no air conditioning in most of these places, only big heaters so it was stifling hot inside the hotel. Luckily we had a room in a chalet out the back where we could open all our windows. Then another wedding party arrived (Jewish) and they partied on in the back garden with a folk band which ...
