    ... and people could freely cross - but just for that one day.

    Both sides of the pretty narrow river are lined with a park, and some cafes and shops, so when you were on one side of the river, you could see communist secured Chez Republic (then Czechoslovakia) and on the other side, you could see communist secured Poland.

    I imagine that there were lots of stories of attempted crossings between each place, and I am sure that no one on either side ...

    I have seen one renactment in another castle in Warkworth in the North of Britain. Though it was fun they were so health and safety conscious it made the whole thing feel sterile. This place, Hukvaldy, in contrast is more like a good old french cheese - full of character and zing!

    This morning I found the reception lady to pay what I owed (4 euros), and then took off to Zilina, the first stop of the day. There I finally found a Slovakian cantina and had duck breast for 5 euros. I did a bit of shopping there, buying baby wipes to be prepared for a night of wild camping in the mountains, and took the road of Cadca.
