Historical Traveler Reviews Omni Shoreham Hotel Washington DC
Stayed for three nights last month, loved it
We got a too-good-to-be-true rate from a motor club and I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. It never did.
The service was excellant, the hotel was gorgeous, no complaints whatsoever. We'll be visitinig DC again in the spring and I'm hoping the supersaver rate is still available then, I'd love to stay at the Omni again
Great staff but would never stay there again
we stayed at the omni - and were very pleased when we arrived - but when we woke up in the morning we had ants in our bed. The staff apologized and put us in a complimentary suite with breakfast. They truly tried to accomodate us but we will never stay there again.
I made my reservations for the Omni Shoreham on a popular travel web site, and got what seemed to be a "too good to be true" deal. Once I got to the hotel, and the doorman rushed up to open my cab door I had a feeling that maybe the deal was actually as good as I had hoped... let me tell you, it was! The Omni Shoreham IS absolutely the best hotel I've ever stayed at. Oh sure, I can find some nit picky things to say, like the west tower elevator was dark, the food in the hotel restaurant was too expensive (but VERY good), and there was a couple of things in my room were not shiny and new (after all, this hotel was opened in the 1930's but remodeled in the last several years), but for me to accentuate these minor things would put me in that group that always whines about everything, and I won't do that... not about the Omni Shoreham. The service at this hotel was extraordinary. From the Front Desk, to Housekeeping, to the Hotel Operator, I was treated with GENUINE respect and care. Every employee I met greeted me each time I saw them. Inquiries and requests were handled professionally and quickly by courteous team members. The concierge had first hand knowledge of the best places to eat, and the things to see. All I can say is I hated to leave this little piece of paradise in Washington DC, and because of this positive experience am anxiously awaiting my next trip to DC, and my next stay at the Omni Shoreham!
Stayed Labor Day Weekend. Room was large and clean. This hotel is within a block from the metro. Room service was excellent. The only problem was parking cards are paper, and it was raining the whole time we were there. You have to exchange them. They only have high speed internet which you have to have an adapter or ethernet. You can rent an adapter or use web tv both at a charge. Overall great place. Would definately stay there in the future.
Great hotel - Great location
My family and I stayed at the Omni Shoreham August 6 - 10. We were very pleased. We recommend joining the Omni Select Club, which is free and available through the Omni website. With this we got a really nice room upgrade and complimentary coffee, juice and paper in the morning. Every staff member we met was so friendly. The hotel was only one block from the metro, McDonald's, CVS and a strip of nice sidewalk cafe's. Also, there was a large swimming pool and jaccuzzi. We loved out trip to D.C.
and would stay at the Omni again.
Great place to stay
After finally arriving in D.C., it was a relief to pull up to the Omni Shoreham and be greeted so warmly by staff. Great Job Elliot!!! The rooms are spacious and clean. We stayed 3 nights with our two kids and were very pleased. The kids loved the pool. It was an upscale hotel, but the staff made a family on vacation feel right at home. There are several restaurants close by with many different choices of food. We highly recommend this hotel.
We stayed at the Omni Shoreham Hotel July 25, 2003 for only one night and we'd definitely return! I was amazed at the HUGE room -- we had a king size bed and there was plenty of room to move for our 2-year-old son. Our room overlooked the pool but we did not hear ANY noise at all. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept on in a hotel!! The staff was very friendly but sometimes hard to understand. We received excellent directions (from the staff) to all the nearby attractions. There are MANY nearby restaurants and the National Zoo is about a 10-15 min. walk. Metro (subway) is about a 5 min. walk. CVS drugstore is nearby as are local liquor stores, McDonalds, etc. This hotel had just about everything we wanted. Only negative things I have to say is that 1) don't forget to add the cost of parking here (about $25) ; 2) get REALLY GOOD directions (or a good local map) to the hotel--reservations staff gave us poor directions & it took us an hour to find the hotel, and 3) breakfast is pricey at $13.95 PP (plus tax) for the buffet--total for 2 adults and one free infant was $30.69. I highly recommend this hotel but just had a few surprises!!
Huge Rooms... Great Staff... You will love it.
I have stayed at the omni many times. The staff are very friendly. Rooms are huge and very clean. Lobby is a great place to relax. Locatin in Adams Morgan close to great restaurants and 3 minute walk to metro station. I have stayed in over 25 D.C. hotels and this is one of my favorites. Pool area is huge if you are traveling with a family.
Great hotel and nice staff
We went to DC for a 4 night stay, everything was wonderful. We stayed at the Omni Shoreham hotel and booked our hotel through AMTRAK, which you can do even without taking the train. They had a great hotel rate, the check-in clerk was very nice and mentioned he had never seen that rate before. The hotel is about 1/2 block from subway, so access to everything was very easy. Also we ate at the Washington Hotel one day for lunch on the rooftop restaurant overlooking the White House and it was wonderful, service was great and food was excellent. As expected there was way too much to do and not enough time to do it, but it was great.
My family and I (hubby, two kids) had the pleasure of staying two nights at the Omni last week. The Omni is an elegant 1930's hotel near the Embassy Row. Our room was a deluxe double queen size, in every sense of the word. The staff is first-rate. The location of the hotel is prime, about a three minute walk from the Zoo/Woodley Park metro. Also within a three minute walk are two small grocery stores and at least 10 restaurants. In addition, one can sign out an umbrella and kids' pack.
