Historical Traveler Reviews of Omni Royal Orleans Hotel New Orleans
Excellent hotel

The omni royal Orleans is a beautiful and well kept hotel. The staff is personable, professional and very friendly. My daughters and I went down to NOLA for a 3 day quick trip, and had the luxery of staying in the Royal Suite. This suite is hugh, 2 bathrooms, wet bar, fully stocked, 3 private balconies, and a living room /dining room. We could not have asked for a nicer room. The suite was drop dead gorgous, but then again the whole hotel is. Last year we stayed at the Bourbon Orleans hotel, and although that hotel is nice, it can not compare to the Omni Royal Orleans. This hotel is first class all the way!

This was my third stay at the Omni Royal Orleans, and I've been very pleased with it each time. The staff has always been very pleasant and helpful, the location is ideal, the rooms are nice and comfortable, and I was upgraded to a petite suite on one stay when my reserved room was not available. I will definitely stay there on future visits to New Orleans.
Great Place to Stay

We stayed at the Omni in mid-May of 2003 and the experience was wonderful. Our room on the sixth floor was quiet, beautifully furnished, and ample in size with its Queen size bed for two. Staff was extremely cordial, polite, outgoing and eager to help. Not once did we pass any hotel personnel in the hallway, or on the elevator, or at poolside without them being nothing short of overly courteous and friendly. The doorman recognized us from our initial arrival on the airport shuttle and never failed to greet us as we repeatedly came and went during our five day visit. Once he had the door opened and waiting when he saw us approaching from the opposite side of the street! The roof top lookout (with bar and pool) in the evening is spectacular! You can see for miles in every direction amidst a sea of lights and sites surround you! Several evenings we relaxed under the stars with a glass of wine and watched the comings and goings of the steamboat Natchez. (Unfortuately it closes at 10:00 pm...but I am sure they have their reasons.) The location on St. Louis and Royal was a plus! We were two blocks in either direction from most of the attractions, including the heart of Bourbon Street. Sorry, but having had no unpleasant experiences in this hotel, we can only recommend it as being one our better vacation accommodations. (P.S. 4:00 PM check-in time was firm, but you can stash your baggage and enjoy the Quarter until your room is ready.)
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent......

My wife and I visited this hotel April 20-23, 2003 for our 10th wedding anniversary. The rooms are excellent. They are smaller than what we were used to, but by no means were they too small. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location cannot be beat. There was nothing negative about this hotel. I hope to be able to return in the future.

My husband and I had never been to New Orleans and felt pre-Mardi Gras might be the way to experience the town for the first time. We couldn't have picked a more wonderful hotel to stay in. The hotel is within a comfortable walk to Bourbon St. and Decataur and the other sights of New Orleans, but enough off of the crowds that we could enjoy quiet too. Our hotel room was lovely, comfortable and clean and filled with amenities (hair dryer, umbrella, ironing equip., coffee maker, robes, etc.) Staff was friendly and very helpful to answer any question about the city. Would definately use the hotel again.

Nice location, kooky service

THis hotel has a key location and lovely windows from the public reception areas and bars and restaurants that make it appealing inside and out. THe rooms however are quite small. My chief problem was the service which was consistantly inconsistant. In 4 days maid service disregarded the do not disturb sign, someone elses bag was delivered to my room, I wasnt informed of a Fed Ex delivery or several other messages left for me, catering was late with a confirmed order, etc. In short, lots of shortcomings. No a great place for a meeting or conference. Maybe if you are traveling for pleasure these quirks can be overlooked. THat is if you dont have claustraphobia...

I stayed at the OMNI Royal Orleans in 2000 and found it to be exceptional. Rooms, while not exceptionally large were clean and very well appointed. The Concierge staff at the OMNI is particularly noteworthy. They actually were a tremendous help even before I arrived at the hotel! Rates can be high so it pays to check back frequently as they do flucuate greatly.
I had a fantastic rate through AAA which actually went down 4 times after making the initial reservation.

We stayed here with friends, and enjoyed it very much. This hotel is in a great location. Our room was spacious and comfortable, our friends room was a bit smaller, but they were also pleased. The staff was very nice, and went out of their way to make sure our visit was enjoyable. I would highly recommend it to friends.
