Historical Traveler Reviews Omni Corpus Christi Hotel

    Very friendly staff

My husband and I just stayed there over the weekend. The staff was one of the nicest we have ever encountered. We had a junior suite which was quite large and had the best views. There are fireworks at every Friday night Hooks game at the new Whataburger Field where a AA baseball team that is owned by the Nolan Ryan family plays and our view of them was PERFECT!

The bathrooms at this hotel definately show wear and they should renovate them but they were clean. Also wish they had chairs on the balconies so you can sit out with a cup of coffee in the morning.

The FREE Wi-Fi was really nice and appreciated!

There is no beach near by but you can have a nice walk along the bayfront as long as you wear a hat. This is by far the windiest city ever! Hence, the Windsurfing championships are held there.

Corpus Christi is just one of those towns that has the potential to be something and hopefully will one day.

    Omni OK, nothing special

Stayed at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel. Checked in at the Marina Hotel. Checked into the room, really nothing special. Certainly not what I expected from a hotel with a 4 diamond AAA rating. No high-speed internet, and the room was no better, and in some cases not as good as some I have experience in hotels such as LaQuinta.

Later that night, I expressed some dissappointment to one of the employees and was subsequently switched to the Omni Bayfront. What a difference. The room and the bathroom were much upgraded. They had Wifi. Even the exercise equipment was upgraded. Bayfront had a balcony that opened with a very nice view or the water, the balcony on the Marina didn't even open. The Bayfront property is the place to be.

    They both had extensive pools.

The staff were very nice and the room was clean. However for a property with ratings such as this one, it still was a notch below Westin, Sheraton and Marriott which all seem better on a consistant basis The beds and the showers didn't quite measure up to those three.

I would stay here again if the price is right, however I would not pay a huge premium.

    Good stay, good room.

The Omni in Corpus was convenient to the tourist sights (the aquarium, the USS Lexington, etc.). The room was well priced, and the breakfast buffet was to die for. It did cost, and was not included with the room, however. The service in the lobby and the restaurant was all very helpful and nice. The only problem was upon arriving in trying to determine which of the two Omni Hotels we were booked in, because there are two right near each other. The room was fine, nothing spectacular, but sufficient. The parking garage was attached to the hotel, and the parking was free. I would stay here again, and would recommend this hotel to others.

    Would Go Back

For the money i spent, It was more like a 2 1/2 ** hotel! But given that this property is located in the heart of Corpus Christi, they can demand anywhere from $142 or above or slightly below. But measured on a National whole this is a low grade hotel. Our room in particular, included a king size with a Ocean view. The ocean view was great! Just primarily based on the idea that anywhere in the hotel would be a ocean view, except some rooms. Even so, the room I was in which was past the 12th, floor i believe the second to highest floor. The room was adequet at best..!

An example of its inadequentcy, One of the lights that are in the ceiling, just randomly fell down, and we pushed it back up in the ceiling. Secondly, the headboard broke, again, I called maintenence to fix this, which took :25 min. It was just very awkward and ruined my experience.

However, the staff was very friendly .. I believe "Maria" is the only staff memeber that is unpleasant. The bartenders are great, even down to the bell boys. But this is definitely not a hotel i would pay $142 a night. It is definitely not that great of a hotel property that would be so expensive. There are a couple of other places that are around Corpus Christi to stay. But of course I have not tried them, so I do not know how the accommodations are.

But, this hotel would be nice if it were in $90 range, perhaps lower with some kind of special rate!

    Good, but not great

Stayed at the Omni Bayfront for 7 days in Aug.

We had 2 rooms back to back, both had a peculiar smell to them, Im pretty sure its a sanitizer of some sort. bathrooms needed an upgrade, along with the tv sets. the view was good, partial bayfront. Parking was good, very fast to elevators. beds were ok, nothing fancy. but heres the bad things that really made me think.

The policy of changing sheets once every three days has to go. you can ask them to change more often, but they seem inconvenienced, the food is good if you like buffet style, but it doesnt change from day to day, except on sundays, where they have a great choice of entrees. the air conditioners turn on every 5 minutes, and they both were LOUD! its because of the humidity, but they need upgrading. the towels were very used, and the bathroom toilet seat looked like a teething dog had got to it!! Overall, its ok, but there are better places in Corpus to stay, as I probably would choose to stay at rather than returning to this hotel

    Pretty Nice

We stayed at the Omni Marina Tower Jul 25-27, 2004. I would recommend this property if nothing else for the beautiful view of the marina across the street. We went to the wrong tower (Bayfront) and stood in line for 10 minutes before realizing we were in the wrong place. They offered to check us in but we'd have to get our key at the front desk of the other tower. So we just drove over and checked in in the right place. Not their fault but just be aware and go to the right tower to check in. All parking is free, ample, and convenient which was a nice surprise.

Our room was on the 9th floor. It had a nice balcony but to our disappointment all balconies have been permanently locked. I'm sure they have a very good reason for this but it was a shame not to be able to go out and enjoy it. The room was definitely showing age -- the carpet was stained and the bathroom looked like it had seen better days. But the amenities were upgraded from a standard hotel and were very nicely done I'm sure in an attempt to compensate for the worn room. The bed was comfortable and had feather pillows (didn't use them so can't comment on whether they were comfortable -- MemoryFoam pillow goes wherever I go!).

We didn't eat at the hotel and didn't swim but the pool and restaurant looked nice. The staff was very friendly and accomodating and we were allowed a late check out.

The only complaint I have about this hotel was the elevator service was very slow. Almost every time we went to go up to our room there were 10-15 people waiting for an elevator. Since there are 3 elevators, I can only assume (and hope) one or two weren't working.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again if I ever go back.

    Loved the Omni Bayfront Tower

We (2 adults/2 children) stayed at the Omni Bayfront on President's Day weekend and the entire experience was excellent. The views of the bay and the marina were the best I've ever seen and I've visited Corpus Christi many times in the last 7 years. The indoor/outdoor pool was great for the kids with mild temperatures in February. The food in both restaurants and room service was excellent and competitive in price with traveling out to a restaurant. The variety of channels on the TV had shows for all age groups and the selection for on-demand movies was extensive. We felt that for the price, one should strongly consider the Omni as a place to stay when visiting Corpus Christi.

    Expected better

We stayed at the Omni Marina for one night on the 31st Jan 03 on our drive around southern Texas. It wasn't bad, but our room was starting to look a bit tired especially the carpet and bathroom and the staff were also not over enthused. Probably wouldn't stay there again should the need arise.

    The Omni Bayfront hotel

We checked in Jan. 16 for 3 nights. It was a very nice experience. We only ate breakfast there and it was really nice and not that expensive. If we go back, we will stay there again.

    Great Hotel!

Stayed at both the Omni Marina & The Omni Bayfront hotel in 2003. Note that when making a reservation you have to request either the Marina or the Bayfront or you could end up getting whichever one they choose for you based on avilability. I highly recommend the Marina it is much nicer (the rooms are cleaner and newer.) Both hotels have a great atmosphere and view however. At the Bayfront your balcony doors open and they do not (in any room that I know of) at the Marina so keep that in mind. Overall, service was great and friendly, rooms are clean and pretty!

    Highly recommend!!

... usually I am in search of freedom. I've lived in Austin for nearly 7 month's now and have been feeling cooped up by city life. The trip down to the ocean was a much needed break. Me and Seth rode the motorcycle down here, (about four hours) with just a backpack and a tent, and not a lot of plans. But it all worked out really well. We found ourselves on the national park ran seashore, that preserves miles of island ...

Mustang Island, Texas….. who would ever think a RV would fit down here, and who would ever think we would come down here to find out? As soon as we arrived that first day, we walked down to the beach—we were in high winds, high waves, and higher piles of seaweed on the beaches, but it still was a fun afternoon on the beach. Why are the laughing gulls out in full force? Are they laughing at us?

Tomorrow we're going to church at First United Methodist in Corpus to hear our former minister, Greg Hackett, preach. We're going to the 8:30 service and that way we will have time to pack up after church and still leave early enough to get home at a decent ...

After dinner, we stuck around for a couple of hours for visiting. I played a couple of games of FARKLE and Bob visited with Larry Gordon.

Now it's time to relax and get ready for bed. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day starting with breakfast, then a membership meeting.

Tomorrow the rally continues with lunch and dinner. Afraid that these next few blogs will not be very informative with few or no pictures (like today). It's kind of hard to embellish eating, which is mostly what we do at this gatherings. ...
