During my 4 hour wait for the connecting flight to Helsinki I read a bit by my departure gate that was buried deep in the bowels of the airport. I'm sure that it was not well vented and the fumes of various airport vehicles gave me a slight headache. While I was there the lounge filled up. ... night out, which included a salsa club, a dance bar in a main square, an outdoor terrace on the roof. New friends on the night included Omar the salsa instructor, Patrick the Austrian who was going to Iceland to ride ponies, and a group of Scottish women who we met in the middle of the street... twice. Drinks were consumed, laughs were had, and the rest faded into the blissful blur of the beer vortex until the small hours of the morning.

Helsinki, you're all right.

... the kids, so they drove us back to the harbor and dropped us off. What a fantastic night...we were so lucky to have such a fun evening with the locals!! Of course, the sun was still out at 10:30pm when we got back, so we sat at the hotel bar for one more drink before heading to bed. Summer in Finland can seriously cause a drinking problem!! Although, the winters are so cold and dark that could drive people to drink. I guess the whole population is screwed! ...

... BACK!

I took the metro for the first time ever, just two stops up to near our hotel. I got a little lost and really Helsinki, where are all the bloody street signs! The hotel is very nice, and it was so great that I could check in early! I even made breakfast! Although I am not 100 percent sure if I was allowed to be there, seeing as we only have one night, which I think means one breakfast, tomorrows breakfast.
